Arrival Story:
this sweet girl was found in our backyard. when we first saw her, she had two kittens with her, a black one and an orange one. we started to feed them with the intention of trapping and taming them. about two weeks into feeding them, the little black one disappeared. we trapped mama and the remaining baby and brought them inside to tame. it wasn't easy, mama kitty didn't want to have anything to do with us. neither did her baby, but we persisted and after about a week of being with them for all of our waking hours, they started to trust us. it was pure joy the first time mama kitty let me pet her, and even better when she started purring. we named her clebrose. we had every intention of giving her baby away, but he became part of the family and got the name sebastian. that took our total number of feline friends to six. about two months later we were up to nine.

clebrose was one of nine cats that we rescued in the summer of 2005. there were actually eleven that showed up in our backyard. the first batch was a totally feral mama kitty and seven kittens. the kittens were about a month old when we first saw them. we immediately started to feed them, trying to gain their trust. we trapped the kittens about two months later and took them downstairs to tame. we were not able to trap mama, and we think she was killed by an animal soon after we took the kittens away. she was a really great mama. a couple weeks later another mama kitty and her two kittens show up. so we started the whole thing over. unfortunately one of the babies was killed before we could trap these three. we did catch mama and one baby and tamed them. of the first seven kittens we found a permanent home for one of the boys, a temporary home for the three girls and we kept three boys. we got the three girls back less than three months later. we also kept mama and her baby. so we adopted eight kitties in the summer of 2005. we had one cat already living with us.
