Kitty Complexion:
sleepyvery active
not curiousvery curious
not vocalvery vocal

Sun Sign:
Quick Bio:

March 9th 1987

Gray and White

Before Patches had her stroke, she liked to hang out in the front bedroom a lot. It was kind of her own "room."

Before the stroke, she hated being bugged by Simba.

Favorite Toy:
She's never really was that playful, so she didn't really have a favorite toy. Humans maybe?

Favorite Nap Spot:
Before the stroke, she napped in the front bedroom a lot. After the stroke, she sort of had no choice, so she napped in our front bathroom, and she also liked to nap after we fed her, so she enjoyed sleeping in our arms.

Favorite Food:
Meow Mix

Being adorable?

Arrival Story:
Patches was originally my grandfather's cat. He adopted her from a private breeder when he lived in California. She moved with him to Kansas, and was basically his main companion. My grandpa had diabetes, and one day fainted in his house. She stayed with him the whole time he was unconcious and still remained in the house for quite a while, with only the neighboors to care for her. After my grandpa died, we took her in. At first, she wasn't very friendly towards me (since I was only a little kid, and she isn't really a kitty that's good around kids), but after I got older, she started to like me more.

She was a great companion to my grandpa, and eventually my grandma. She ALWAYS stayed in my grandma's bedroom, and even slept with her until the very end. A few months after my grandma's death, Patches had a stroke. I think that it might have been caused from the sadness of not having my grandma with her. Because of the stroke, Patches could barely walk and we had to hand feed her. She also couldn't get to the litter pan, so she always had to be layed on a pee-pee pad. We had to take her into the veterinarian to get fluids a couple of times every week, but we didn't mind. Patches enjoyed napping after we fed her, and was still a really sweet cat to the very end. A few people asked us why we didn't put her to sleep, since taking care of her was a time-consuming thing. We didn't put her to sleep because she wasn't in pain, and we didn't mind taking care of her. She was just handicapped. That doesn't mean we should have put her to sleep or give up on her. Patches passed away during the morning of April 23, 2006. She was nineteen years old. She passed away in her sleep. Patchie-Wachie is burried under my grandmother's window, since she always loved being with my grandma. We know that Patches is happy up at the rainbow bridge with all of her kitty friends, Snowball, her sister, and my grandmother and grandfather. She was one of the sweetest, most loyal, and strong cats we've ever had and she'll never be forgotten.

Diary of an Angel

A Beautiful Poem

"I was chosen today
I'm learning to fly
the world took me away,
but please don't you cry

And I chose you today
to try and be strong
so please don't you cry
and don't say that I'm gone

When you're feeling alone
just remember our love,
I'm up near the stars
looking down from above.

Remember our love
In a moment you'll see
that I'm still here beside you
when you're thinking of me."

Bonzi, from Dogster, sent this to Cuddles (who joined me up at the Rainbow Bridge yesterday). I thought it was absolutly beautiful, so I decided to add it to my diary.

Gone to the Rainbow Bridge

I passed away this morning. Grandma came to check on me this morning and I was already gone. I passed away in my sleep.

I'd really like to thank everycat that supported me through my struggle. You guys were great and I really do think that you all helped extend my life. I'm already looking for my 'welcoming commitee' up at the rainbow bridge. I'll miss all my living friends a lot. I'll be waiting for you guys when your times come!

I'm Still Going...

Well, the day when Mommy and Grandma were going to have me put to sleep, I got better. At the moment, my health has declined again. My pupils are acting up. One's bigger than the other. Mommy and Grandma are both really worried. They're not sure if I'm going to bounce back like I've tended to do or if this one's going to be it. Of course, they've always wondered if each fall would be my last. Please continue purring for me, everycat! Thanks!
