"If It Should Be"

Around 8 am, Wednesday, February 15, 2006 at The Bangor Veterinary Hospital, Lee was very humanely euthanized after a short but severe illness (liver failure). Her human mother was there with her as she peacefully slipped away, and her human godmother and godsister were also there to witness her sad departure. She will be horribly missed by all that were close to her including her feline blood sister, Bethany, and her canine sister, Rowena and her human dad.
Lee's last Days?February 7th 2006 9:00 pm[ Leave A Comment ] Lee, my usually robust, more-than-adequate-around-the-tummy, black n white 9 year old kitty is very sick and I feel helpless to help her. What I thought was a food allergy to some cheap, last minute food purchase from my husband maybe more than just that. She has patches on her back where she has licked her hair off. Furball? The vet found flee dust... never once saw a flee on any of the animals! However, the vet found that Lee was jaundice. Not a good sign. She has not been eating, drinking little, barfing what little she gets in her and WILL NOT stand for having meds crammed down her throat. Not a pill popper, not as a fluid, she won't eat even soft food and I cannot... not even with help, get her to take any of it. Not even the Petromalt for furballs. Basically, my beautiful Lee is dying. No whining, no more warm cuddles at night or while I lounge on the couch... she is too sick to cuddle, love or be loved. Her sister has to know what is going on, but she still flits about, begging for attention, getting cuddles while Lee huddles in the spot we made her next to the shower (she chose the spot) or hiding underneath the futon couch where I can't even reach her. My heart already hurts for losing her and she is still here. How many cats can one stand to lose in a year? When I got my service dog in November 2004, I had to find homes for 6 of my 8 cats. 2 of them went to my mother where I can still see them. Lee, Beth and (don't tell the landlord) Nermal stayed with me. Nermal, a mere 4 years old, died of heart failure. Now Lee. My baby Lee with her loving yellow eyes is fading from us.
