A wonderful dj who does a show on a internet radio station just did something special. She asked our Moody group on FB fur requests fur her show. She played my request and said my name on the radio! Then she played someone's recording from a Moody Blues concert a fan made last friday. She shared his special moment with everyone. How cool is that to be able to do that.

It's been a while since I wrote in my dairy. But I had the most wonderful day today and not just cos it's my sisfur Daisy's purrday. Tico and I and the rest of the family got together to take our cousin Clawber around the rainbow country and play Rainbow Treasures. Other newly winged kitties and a couple of doggies joined us. I was so proud when Clawber found his treasure. A golden guitar pick. His daddy is a musician and his Meowmie loves music too. I helped him put in on his collar and proudly went around showing it off. There was one doggie who came along whose treasure particularly touched me. He was a alley dog who had lived behind a some run down bar. He was an unoffical mascot of the bikers who hung out there and one of them had given him a old vest to lay on out in the alley. His treasure was a vest which he carried to a spot under a tree and lay down on happily. Sometimes mew furget that a home comes in many forms. He never saw himself as homeless. That alley was his home and he was cared for. A furry furry special way to spend a day.

Daxco Finds A Name.

Recently Meowmie told me a story that somepurry in her community ed art class ,that she goes too, told her. This man in the class brought a picture of his cat in to paint. The cat's name is Daxco. A purry unmewsualy name to be sure. So everypurry wanted to know how the cat got that name. The man's wife is CEO (Meowmie says this is a very important posiston) of the Monterey County YMCAs. That's 5 offices that couldn't talk to each other before the end of last year. (Don't they have those phones thing humans like so much?) ANyway, the company got some software so their commewters could talk to each other. (people are so silly, they make their commewters do all this work so they don't have too.) Well the company that was making the software is in the South. SO this nice little southern lady came out here to install the whole deal. She'd written it all I guess. She though Daxco was so cute. The man had only just brought him home from the rescue peoples. The other cat they got had a name, but Daxco didn't. Well the first lady goes home and the next week another little southern lady from the same town comes out to teach everyone how to use the software. She too falls in love with Daxco. Well a little while after she leaves the wife says why don't we name the cat Daxco. Since he was gotten about the same time as the software. Well the man thinks it's odd, but he agrees. The wife emails the company and says everythings working and they named their cat after them. A short while later a big package arrives. The man's son lives in the house behind then and he orders everything off the commewter. So the man though it was for the son and he starts to take it over there. Then he sees it's adressed to Daxco the cat. He takes it in and opens it. Well it's a big cat bed for the Daxco with his name on it. Isn't that the nicest thing mew ever heard?

The Cat Who Raised Strays.

My Uncle KC has a very unmewsual and now very old feral cat who lives under his back stoop. This cat's feline meowmie was there, when Uncle KC first inherited the house when he was 17. He's now 33. He never was able to catch the cat safely and about every two years she had kittens. Well for a feral she is a very intellegant and mothering cat. She recently had a litter in fact. He figures she about 15 and this is probably her last one. 3 of the kittens did not survive more then a day. But one did. So she's been raising her lone kitten in her den under the stoop. Well over the years she's raised more then just kittens. She has cared for rabbits, a puppy, squirrels, and once sat on a chicken egg till it hatched. The bunnies found homes, the puppy became Uncle KC's, the squirrels were taken in by their own kind (he says she sat and watched squirrels for hours to see how they acted and finally convicned them to accept these babies of hers), and the chick died from complications soon after hatching, due to another cat having dragged the egg from next door and the mother feral having to rescue it. Her kitten was about a week old when Uncle KC saw his Lab (the one that she'd nursed) carrying something in his mouth across the yard. He stuck his head under the stoop and went away agian. He wasn't panting but had his mouth open. Well Uncle KC watched him do this 4 times, and finally went out to see what was up. He found the dog was carrying a tiny baby rabbit on his tounge. And the others were being nursed by the mother feral. She is currently nursing a kitten and 5 baby bunnies.

Meow! Maggie here with a new Catruna story. This time our furry cyber friend has visited a mewseum. My meowmie has gone to a lot of these so they must be good. Enjoy!

Meow, everypurry. It's Catruna here with another adventure. My story this time is about my trip to the National Steinbeck Center in Salinas, Califurnia. This is a mewseum dedciated to the writer John Steinbeck (who had a dog, ugh) and the Salinas Valley, which he wrote about. It's a very cool place and you can learn alot. Once I got inside (mew would think that people never saw a cat in a mewseum before) I headed for the Steinbeck display. This is a series of rooms that tell mew all about his life and his stories. Mew can see all sorts of things that can from them. There is a model of his truck he drove all around the country (with that dog I mentioned, a standard poddle named Charlie). There are copies of his books and movie posters from the movies some of them were made into. Everywhere mew go there are quoutes on the walls. He was a very purlific writer. I would have liked to hopped in the model car that was also there, but mew aren't suppose to touch displays in a mewseum unless they're specifically meant for it. Afur I'd throughly explored this area, I moved on the next. In the next space, there was a small gallery. A gallery is a room or building in which art work is displayed and even sold. This gallery was fur changing exhibts. That means that the work is shown for a ceritan amount of time in a show or exhibit and then a mew one is set up. This time around it was paintings and illustrations from books. They were all about Califurnia. Some very bemewtiful work indeed. I specially liked one that had a sunset in it. The artist was Japanese. He wrote poems that went with some of the pictures. Amazing what humans can do. The last part of the mewseum was a huge room decicated to agriculture. Salinas is called the Salad Bowl of the World, and once upon a time grew more lettuce (ugh rabbit food) then anywhere else. Now it grows other things too. They had a tractor in this room, and all over the place were logos from the companys that use exsit here. They all sold lettuce and artichokes and stuff like that. Now only a few big companies sell the stuff. But there are a few companies in Salinas and near it that do. Like Dole, and Farm Express and Fox Lettuce. Cool huh. Even if it is rabbit food. The logo are very pretty and works of art in themselves. People where very proud of them and some people even collect them off the sides of all crates or have prints (that a replica of an orignal) of them in their homes or even resturants. Well that's my story fur now. Join me next time! Purrs!

Catruna Goes To College

Meow! Maggie here and I'm bring mew the first edition of Catruna's Diary. A frist paw account of the adventures of our sweet cyber friend. Each week Catruna will visit a mew place or event. As her offical writer, it will be my duty to tell mew about it, as she told it to me. So lets get rolling.

This week: Catruna visit a school.

Hi evfurypurry, I'm Catruna. This week I visited a college. This was a very exciting experience fur a little kitty like me. Mew have to be extra careful that all those humans don't tread on mewr paws. There are so many exciting things to see in a college. It's so much bigger then other schools and people come to them fur diffurent reasons. First I checked out the Student Union. That's a place where students can buy supplies, sit and study and talk, and eat too. Wow, what a big building. So many comfy chairs though, and nice tables to sit on. And with students everywhere studying, there were more books then I could evfur sit on. This purrticular college has a panther for a mascot. in the window of their student store there is a big black panther. He looks so proud and mighty. I though a student store sold students, but upon inquiry, I found out it's like a convience store, but fur school. They sell books, and snacks and suppiles. And all sorts of things that students can buy to show how proud they are of their school. College students get very attacted to their school, and show their support their whole lives. Wow. That's a long time for most humans. I also checked out the cafateria. I tell mew, they need to consider serving tuna. After the Student Union, I took a stroll thru the quad. Another big Panther here. I was told his name is Oscar. I wonder why. The Quad is so nice on the paws, there's a big grass area where students sit and play stick ball or soccer. There's paths to all the places in the school. It's like the centeral point of the campus. That's what they call a school's grounds, a campus. From here I could go anywhere on the campus as long as I was on the right path. I decided to check out the Addministrations building. Here all the important people who run the school work. There's offices for the president, and deans and the cashier. That's who people pay to go here. They have to pay a certian amount for each unit. And classes can be 1 to 5 units. Wow, just think of all the cat nip you could buy with that money. But since this is were people go to get an edmewcation so that they can buy us cat nip, I guess it's not so bad. This college also has classrooms in the Administration building. They have all sorts of cool commewters. After I played around with the commewters, I went over to the library. It's is a fantastic place for anyone who loves to learn. And I must make a note to visit a public one. In a college library, they make an emfursis on research. There are commerters here too. But mostly books. Any subject mew could imagine. There was one particular that I liked. It was in a big glass case. It was full of beautiful pictures of birds. I think it was called Audoban's Birds. There were so many places to curl up and sleep in. I could have stayed all day. But I had to go check out other places. The science building had an amazing penmewlum. It swings from the ceiling and as the earth turns the penmewlum changes it's path. ther are little blocks that get knocked down every time the penmewlum swings hits them. I so wanted to play with that string it was on. Some of the rooms where kind of scary. So many dead things and things that could hurt. The nicest place was the planetarium. I took a nice cat nap under that stars. There is also a wonderul little garden near this buidling. I sat and watched the birds flying over head. I checked out the arts building next. Wow. You can learn a lot there. I saw people making pots and painting. I had to becareful not to get paint on my whiskers or clay on my paws. That wouldn't have been nice to wash off. Of course no artist can resist a kitty, so I dained to model for some of them. I also had a good long run up and down the ramp that up to the second floor. There are four sections so it was a good long runway fur a fast kitty like me. Whhhhhhheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! Afur That I worked my way thru the remaining buidlings. You'd be suprised how much you can find to play with in a theater. but the people there didn't think much of that. So I had to scurry out of there. Whew. I though that big stage hand was gonna get me. I decided to aviod the gym, since it would be full of sweaty people, and atheletes and worse a pool. Ugh people actually want to emerse themselves in water? Not this kitty. After the theater, I stopped by and dained to let the children pet me. Carefully of course. But one did pull my tail so I took off. Hehehe. I stole his lollypop and hid it in the sand. Along with something that humans had to build whole little rooms for. But That's not something I'm going to talk about here. So my next stop was the technology building. This much to my suprise had little to do with commewters. Mostly it was drafting, which is useful in building houses. And other mechanical things. I nearly got shut in the trunk of a car in the auto shop. Mew never heard such a yowl. The students there were fury nice to me. They rescmewed me quick. The drafting students let me play with their pencils. Until I lost one. Luckily I'm very good at retriving things. But they didn't want me to play with them anymore. Apprently they're very expensive. I decided after the auto shop, I should avoid the other mechanical things. Like the welding shop. I mean afur all, fire burns. The last building was the Vetrinary Technology buidling. I was very appriciated there. I sat in on a lecture all about me. Well I mean cats. But hey, when I'm in the room, there is no other cat, hehe. Well that was my college visit. I hope mew enjoyed it. Stay tuned till next week.

Names

I was just thinking about how us kitties get named. My Meowmie named our sisfur Tico after a kitty her grandfather had. Lily and I were named for two of his favorite flowers. Sometimes, names don't mean anything, like Snowball or Fluffy. Well they do, but mew know what I mean. Sometimes the name is from a book, like our sisfur Yum Yum was named for a cat from the Cat Who Books. But no matter what mewr name means, it's mewr name and mew make it mewr own.

That's my sisfur Lily saying hi. it's nice having a sisfur. I don't know if my kitty meowmie had any other kittens other then me. But when I came to my mew home, I found out I now had one. Lily is a Siamese, and she's only two week younger then me. Meowmie said at Chirstmouse time that I was the best gift, she ever gave Lily. Hehehe. That makes me special, just like a kitty should be. But I'm lucky too of course. I get a companion, to play and sleep with. So when Meowmie is out, I can wreck the house with someone else. Hehehehe. Well that's all for now. Look fur more of my mewsings later. Purrs!

Today, I got a special toy, all the way from Tasmania. That's an island next to Australia Meowmie says. My Auntie Amber sent me a blue mousie, for Christmouse. I'm going to write a thank mew note of course. My sisfur Lily got a mousie too, her's is pink. I had a good sleep this morning until Meowmie's Mowmie dropped Lily on me. Lily was being bad and making a mess. Well that's all I can think of for now. Maybe I'll think of something else to write tomorrow. Purrs!
