Arrival Story:
My beloved Tico had to be put down on November 8th of 2005. A few weeks before I had a dream of finding a tabby cat in a shelter of some kind. I knew that Tico had sent this dream, that she was telling me how to find the cat that would help me thru the loss. And indeed on the morning of the 9th, I found that cat in Collier's Feed and Pet Supply. Maggie practically melted thru the bars of her cage to get to us. Ther was no denying that she was to come home with us.

Bio:
My Maggie Waggles died on May 8th. She had FIP. Maggie's background was unknown, being a very very young shelter kitty. We figured that she might have been owned by someone who found that they couldn't cope with or have a cat after all and gave her to the rescue people because she is very personalble and trusting. But She was a wonderful cat over all, quite unique in her way as was my beloved Tico. She was named Magnolia Blossum for one of my grandfather's favorite flowers. The same reason her sisfur Lily (adopted sisfur of course) was named for an Easter Lily, another favorite flower of his.

My Mewsings

A day of joy and celebration

It's been a while since I wrote in my dairy. But I had the most wonderful day today and not just cos it's my sisfur Daisy's purrday. Tico and I and the rest of the family got together to take our cousin Clawber around the rainbow country and play Rainbow Treasures. Other newly winged kitties and a couple of doggies joined us. I was so proud when Clawber found his treasure. A golden guitar pick. His daddy is a musician and his Meowmie loves music too. I helped him put in on his collar and proudly went around showing it off. There was one doggie who came along whose treasure particularly touched me. He was a alley dog who had lived behind a some run down bar. He was an unoffical mascot of the bikers who hung out there and one of them had given him a old vest to lay on out in the alley. His treasure was a vest which he carried to a spot under a tree and lay down on happily. Sometimes mew furget that a home comes in many forms. He never saw himself as homeless. That alley was his home and he was cared for. A furry furry special way to spend a day.

Daxco Finds A Name.

Recently Meowmie told me a story that somepurry in her community ed art class ,that she goes too, told her. This man in the class brought a picture of his cat in to paint. The cat's name is Daxco. A purry unmewsualy name to be sure. So everypurry wanted to know how the cat got that name. The man's wife is CEO (Meowmie says this is a very important posiston) of the Monterey County YMCAs. That's 5 offices that couldn't talk to each other before the end of last year. (Don't they have those phones thing humans like so much?) ANyway, the company got some software so their commewters could talk to each other. (people are so silly, they make their commewters do all this work so they don't have too.) Well the company that was making the software is in the South. SO this nice little southern lady came out here to install the whole deal. She'd written it all I guess. She though Daxco was so cute. The man had only just brought him home from the rescue peoples. The other cat they got had a name, but Daxco didn't. Well the first lady goes home and the next week another little southern lady from the same town comes out to teach everyone how to use the software. She too falls in love with Daxco. Well a little while after she leaves the wife says why don't we name the cat Daxco. Since he was gotten about the same time as the software. Well the man thinks it's odd, but he agrees. The wife emails the company and says everythings working and they named their cat after them. A short while later a big package arrives. The man's son lives in the house behind then and he orders everything off the commewter. So the man though it was for the son and he starts to take it over there. Then he sees it's adressed to Daxco the cat. He takes it in and opens it. Well it's a big cat bed for the Daxco with his name on it. Isn't that the nicest thing mew ever heard?

The Cat Who Raised Strays.

My Uncle KC has a very unmewsual and now very old feral cat who lives under his back stoop. This cat's feline meowmie was there, when Uncle KC first inherited the house when he was 17. He's now 33. He never was able to catch the cat safely and about every two years she had kittens. Well for a feral she is a very intellegant and mothering cat. She recently had a litter in fact. He figures she about 15 and this is probably her last one. 3 of the kittens did not survive more then a day. But one did. So she's been raising her lone kitten in her den under the stoop. Well over the years she's raised more then just kittens. She has cared for rabbits, a puppy, squirrels, and once sat on a chicken egg till it hatched. The bunnies found homes, the puppy became Uncle KC's, the squirrels were taken in by their own kind (he says she sat and watched squirrels for hours to see how they acted and finally convicned them to accept these babies of hers), and the chick died from complications soon after hatching, due to another cat having dragged the egg from next door and the mother feral having to rescue it. Her kitten was about a week old when Uncle KC saw his Lab (the one that she'd nursed) carrying something in his mouth across the yard. He stuck his head under the stoop and went away agian. He wasn't panting but had his mouth open. Well Uncle KC watched him do this 4 times, and finally went out to see what was up. He found the dog was carrying a tiny baby rabbit on his tounge. And the others were being nursed by the mother feral. She is currently nursing a kitten and 5 baby bunnies.

Cat Runa Vists a Museum

Meow! Maggie here with a new Catruna story. This time our furry cyber friend has visited a mewseum. My meowmie has gone to a lot of these so they must be good. Enjoy!

Meow, everypurry. It's Catruna here with another adventure. My story this time is about my trip to the National Steinbeck Center in Salinas, Califurnia. This is a mewseum dedciated to the writer John Steinbeck (who had a dog, ugh) and the Salinas Valley, which he wrote about. It's a very cool place and you can learn alot. Once I got inside (mew would think that people never saw a cat in a mewseum before) I headed for the Steinbeck display. This is a series of rooms that tell mew all about his life and his stories. Mew can see all sorts of things that can from them. There is a model of his truck he drove all around the country (with that dog I mentioned, a standard poddle named Charlie). There are copies of his books and movie posters from the movies some of them were made into. Everywhere mew go there are quoutes on the walls. He was a very purlific writer. I would have liked to hopped in the model car that was also there, but mew aren't suppose to touch displays in a mewseum unless they're specifically meant for it. Afur I'd throughly explored this area, I moved on the next. In the next space, there was a small gallery. A gallery is a room or building in which art work is displayed and even sold. This gallery was fur changing exhibts. That means that the work is shown for a ceritan amount of time in a show or exhibit and then a mew one is set up. This time around it was paintings and illustrations from books. They were all about Califurnia. Some very bemewtiful work indeed. I specially liked one that had a sunset in it. The artist was Japanese. He wrote poems that went with some of the pictures. Amazing what humans can do. The last part of the mewseum was a huge room decicated to agriculture. Salinas is called the Salad Bowl of the World, and once upon a time grew more lettuce (ugh rabbit food) then anywhere else. Now it grows other things too. They had a tractor in this room, and all over the place were logos from the companys that use exsit here. They all sold lettuce and artichokes and stuff like that. Now only a few big companies sell the stuff. But there are a few companies in Salinas and near it that do. Like Dole, and Farm Express and Fox Lettuce. Cool huh. Even if it is rabbit food. The logo are very pretty and works of art in themselves. People where very proud of them and some people even collect them off the sides of all crates or have prints (that a replica of an orignal) of them in their homes or even resturants. Well that's my story fur now. Join me next time! Purrs!
