Cat of the Day!

what a surprise! Meowmie woke up to see all kinds of congratulations on the Catster account, and I'm Cat of the Day! This is so great!
Even though I haven't posted for quite some time, I can all assure you that I am in excellent health. Right now I'm sitting on top of my cat tree watching the sunrise - it's beautiful.

I continue to be healthy, and my annual heart ultrasounds have been normal. I still take the cardiostrength vitamins and a 1/4 of atenolol every day, but you would not think anything is wrong with me at all, and no symptoms of heart disease.

Meowmie has been very busy last year, starting her own non-profit, for all the rescue kitties. But at home, it's still just Toby, Quincy and me. all 17 other kitties are at her place of work, where the rescue is.

So, again, a big THANK YOU! and you all enjoy this beautiful day of early spring!
kitty hugs! Mio

it's a miracle!

so, I had another ultrasound heart checkup today. Guess what? All my measurements have decreased by about 25% and everything is normal!!! after 3 1/2 years, It is unbelievable. Even the vet was flabbergasted. It's not that they made a mistake. I had 2 previous tests. And they did it twice today, just to make sure. But the size of my heart septum has decreased by nearly 4 mm to 7.5, with the upper normal being 9 mm. The vet thinks it might be the cardio vitamins she has given me all the time. Especially the taurine is said to possible reverse heart damage.
no matter what, we are so happy, and I am mom's miracle kitty

as you know, I had been in the hospital a few weeks ago. They shaved both my forepaws, for the iv.
I have been a little embarassed, and mom has been calling me "Poodle Paws". But now I proudly wear them in solidarity with my dear friend Hooch! He is in the hospital right now, and PLEASE! Everykitty who reads this, please send him maximum purrs!
He has poodle paws, too!
that's it for today, lets prove to the world what the powers of the paw and the purr can do!

a rainy day and a wedding announcement

it's a little rainy, not much, but I am sitting by the window, watching the birds. Mom has put a feeder right outside the window where the cat tree is, for kitty entertainment.

As it often is, here on the Pacific Coast, it will probably clear up later in the day. Now the grass is still wet, but I just saw Bearly walking by, on his morning patrol. He looks funny with his shaved belly ( sniggers ).

This afternoon I will go to the doctor to have my blood checked one more time, mom was hesitant if I really needed it, as I am doing so well, completely normal, but she just doesn't want to take a chance.

so much for this morning, I will now check how my friends Hooch and Muppet are doing. They have health problems are dear to my heart, and I want to make sure they're on the right track to becoming well again.

I hope I will see many friends on Sunday, at my brother Stumpy's wedding to the lovely Cathy, his English Rose. Due to the US/European time difference it will be at 1 pm Pacific time.

no news is good news

I am doing fine, guys.
Mom and Dad went to the lake for 4 days last week, and left me in the care of the pink skin sister. She is a very good kitty caretaker and the actual mom of our Maneki. Since she moved home for summer, Maneki is staying with us as well.
I have no symptoms, and mom says she can't believe I could eat Easter Lily leaves and get away with it.
Please do not attempt the same stupid stunt my dear friends.
I'll have to go for another kidney test next week. We even have found a way to get me to the vet without me having embarrassing eliminations from all my orifices ( blush )
If mom drives no faster than 20 mph, I am doing fine, with just minimal singing of protest songs, but no gastro-intestinal upheavals.

My friend Cali ( 990904 ) tagged me, so I will answer the questions now.

1. What color is your collar? – I am an insider, so no collar for me

2. What kind of food do you eat? - Katz'nflocken and Fancy Feast turkey in delicate sauce, Friskies shredded turkey and cheese

3. What are your favorite treats? – Grandma Lucy's freeze dried tuna

4. Do you have a Valentine or significant other? – no sweetheart

5. Do you get Table Scraps? – no

6. What is your favorite toy? – the cheap concrete stuffed Walmart mice

7. When is your Birthday? – June 25th

8. How many times a day do you get to eat?- twice, plus dry and treats

9. Do you have a favorite color? – I'm pretty sure that I am clor blind MOL

smooth sailing

things are still fine. My latest blood test yesterday morning was purrfectly fine again, even better than the day before.
I'm still a little ticked off at meowmie and I punish her by being a picky eater.
She has to bring out the tuna flakes to make me eat LOL.

We are very glad that things are back to normal in our household. Mom and Dad had planned to spend a few days by the lake this week, and leave us alone with the skin sister. Well, she will do, she is a good kid, even though she is not crazy about litter box duties, but she does a good job, nevertheless.

Yesterday, when mom was at the company feeding the kitties there, a friend of hers called. She hadn't seen him for a while and he told her:
His neighbor had been complaining about a kitty in the yard, who would sit on his car and "scratch" it. So he got a trap and caught him and wanted "to take him out into the woods". Tony said, now wait a minute, I will call my friend. Mewomie agreed to take him on. He is very shy and at least semi feral. She's trying to get him in for neuerting today, he is in the hospital wing in our cat food room now, growling. His name is Brumby.

so, y'all have a Happy Monday, ok?

another day

thank you so much for the caring and your kindness, my dear friends.
I had another blood test this morning, my kidney function is VERY normal. BUN down to 17 from 25, and Creatinine down from 1.6 to 1.5
I never had any higher than normal values, so the vet says I am fine and will be fine. No diet needed.
Mom is sooo happy!

I also managed not to poop or throw up in the car, 3 times now! Mom needs to drive not faster than 20 mph, and take the corners VERY slowly, and I'm not getting sick!

purrs and kitty hugs
Mio

I am home, woohoo!

well, I forced the issue. In the early morning hours, at the vet, I managed to rip out the blasted iv!
When mom came in the morning, the tech told her what I had done. The my doctor Jamie came and took blood for my test, it was still ok, my BUN rose a bit to 25, but still very normal. So, they gave me 150 mil subqs and sent me home with mom.
I am feeling ok, but will get more subqs in the afternoon, and back for a blood test tomorrow morning.
I have been sulking still, but just a bit to make mom feel guilty. Right now I am hiding in the utility.
But it's good to be home.

INCREDIBLE !!!!

so, mom went to see me this morning at 8:30 am, her stomach all in a knot. When she got to my cage, she noticed that my iv was dripping at half the amount. Then Dr. Jamie came and told mom that my blood work was completely normal again!!!
And I can come home tomorrow, they just need to wean me off the iv, not to shock my system.
Well, I would have preferred to come home today!

They cannot explain this, I think they assume mom got mixed up with the plant identification, but we had showed it to a neighbor who is an avid gardener, and after that, we checked Easter Lily online, and that's what that potted plant in the garage was, just without flowers, only leaves. The flowers had been wilted, so mom had tossed them when she bought the plant for 1$. She had planned to put it on her parents' grave, but the deer in the Memorial Garden always eat everything, and she had planned to augment it with artificial flowers.

No matter what, I am 100% certain that it was the Power of the Paw and all the purrs and prayers of this wonderful Catster community that has pulled me through this.
I don't need a "rational" explanation.
I will live and be fine and forever grateful for all your support

later on Wednesday

Mom will come and visit me again at 6 pm. I was mad at her when she came around 11 am. How can she leave me here. These are dangerous people, those vets, they poke and prod me, and I just want to go home and lie in bed with mom :(

We are waiting for tomorrow morning, but Dr. Jamie says we have high hopes I will be ok. If the blood work is within normal again, they will taper off the fluids and send me home on Friday.

The continuous purrs of all my friends in the Catster community and on Facebook have carried me through this so far, so please continue one more day. We believe in the power of the paw, and today is another proof of the miraculous healing power.

More rosies and well wishes, thank you to the families of Smokey, Macallan and my brother Stumpy's fiance Cathy, Cali who wrote me a personal letter. Please pray for my friend Miss Kitty who is sick, but still sent me purrs. http://www.catster.com/cats/974640

also thank you for caring about me and reading this diary:
