* Rainbow Bridge - November 7, 2007

The Vet called to say they found the cause of Chloe’s illness. She has secondary viremia Feline Leukemia Virus. The vet said Chloe has a white blood cell count of one - the lowest that she’s ever seen, and does not expect her to recover.

Chloe went to the Rainbow Bridge on November 7 2007.

She tested negative as a kitten (possibly because she wasn’t producing antibodies yet). I never thought to have her re-tested. She had an occasional goopy eye but it always cleared up on its own. No other health problems until now.

I feel very guilty for not bringing her to the vet earlier. Guilty for not paying close attention to the warning signs. Chloe’s health rapidly declined from Sunday night to Tuesday night. Chloe is very shy and kept to herself more than Icon and Katie. She had been hiding in the closet or behind the sofa all weekend - I didn’t think her absence was cause for immediate alarm. I was wrong.

I miss you, Chloe.

Going to the Vet

Tonight’s visit to the Vet was very scary. Chloe looked twice as bad today then yesterday. Although, the past several days we haven’t much of her at all. I didn’t realize how sick she looked until we got to the exam room. Gooey eyes, runny nose, and the Vet told me that the skin in her ears and head is a yellowish color and suspects that her liver is failing.
Her liver is failing. Chloe isn’t even 3 years old. Why didn’t I notice how bad she looking earlier?!

She is staying at the Vets for the next few days/nights. She’ll be on an IV for fluids and medicine. There is a possibly a feeding tube or liver biopsy might be necessary.

I have Soft Paws!

Today mom and dad double teamed me and put these sticky things on my lovely claws. It was sort of scarey and I don't like them trimming my claws AT ALL. Mom got some stuff called glue on her hand... well, now she knows how I feel!!!! sheezh

I caught a wasp!

I have finally gotten in good with The Kittens! We have such a fun time playing all day. I am glad they are here to keep me company.

Icon Baxter Bentley has been super grumpy this week. He swats at me every time I stroll by him.

I caught a wasp this week! I ATE most of it after it was dead. Meowmie was worried I would get stung eating the end, so she took it away from me. It was very yummy. It was also fun to catch. I’ll be on the lookout for more.

Kateri

I have a new companion. Her name is Kateri, and she is about 3 months old. This means she is too small for me to want to play with - yet. I haven't been able to fully evaluate her yet because my People have been keeping her in the bedroom with the door shut.
Her picture is on my page. Meowmie says I have to share my Catster page with her until she learns to use the computer and wants to blog too.

Ahh to be young

I have to say, this living arrangement is working out okay. I like having other cats to play with, even if I am a lot bigger.
The Grump (Icon) has been put in his place. He was really getting away with being bossey for a while. But since The Kittens have been roaming the house, he has been very scarce.
I might even say he is AFRAID of The Kittens! hahah!
Big scaredy-cat.
Although, they seem to be scared of him too. I don't think they have learned how to hiss or growel yet. Silly Kittens.

Teng o que decir, este arreglo vivo me estoy resolviendo muy bien. Tengo gusto de tener otros gatos de jugar con, incluso si soy mucho más grande.
El Grump (icono) se ha puesto en su lugar. Él realmente conseguía lejos con ser bossey por un rato. Pero puesto que los gatitos han estado vagando la casa, él ha sido muy escaso.
¡Puede ser que incluso diga que él está ASUSTADO de los gatitos! ¡hahah! Scaredy-gato grande.
Aunque, se parecen ser asustados de él también. No pienso que han aprendido cómo silbar o growel todavía.

curious kittens

I have made friends with two of the kittens. Don't tell anyone. I have to save face by hissing at them if anyone else sees me. But secretly I like them. Mom caught me sniffing one today; but I ran away when she saw me.

Jealous

It's been about 4 weeks since the kittens have taken over the back bedroom. The first week they were here I wasn't allowed to see them (but I could smell them under the door). I was so upset at mom for allowing them to be here.
I mean, I already have to share my toys and food with Icon. Which is difficult to do! I am always trying to get him to play, and he always growles and hisses at me. He only plays with dad, and doesn't let me join in. I try to be nice, but he's a big grump.
Last week mom put up the baby-gate in the door of the kitten's room. I spied on them from around the corner for days waiting for a chance to get in there and 'take care' of them. I got a little more brave and closer to the doorway and growled and hissed at anyone that came close. I need to let them know this is MY house.
I watched them intently for days. I watched them play with their toys. I watched them run and chase each other. I watched them tumble around having fun.
After a little while, I started to want to play too. They might not be so bad after all. I stopped hissing at them. They have so much fun! I want to play too!
I'm going to try to make friends with them. Yesterday I showed them my belly and rolled around on my side of the gate. Maybe mom will let me go in there and play. Until then, I'm going to try to get Icon to play with me.

I smell kittens in my house.

Mom finally let me see where the smell is coming from. It is a horrible smell, and I need to get rid of it. It's coming from the kittens! Oh, a whole litter of them, and their mom have been camping out in the back bedroom of MY house. I don't understand why mom brought them here! I wish she would let me 'take care' of them. Little rats. Climbing on everything, playing with my old toys, and acting like they own the place. No way, this is my home and they need to go away. I just sit by the door waiting for the chance to get in there and 'do away' with all of the little buggers.
