Arrival Story:
Pippin was left in the garbage dumpster of an Italian restaurant where a client of mine worked. He was only about 3 weeks old and screamong his head off. She couldn't keep him and I only had 4 cats at the time so I took him home and kept him.

Bio:
Pippin was very curious as a kitten and got himself locked in dresser drawers twice for an entire day. You would think he would hate drawers but every chance he gets he jumps in them and crams himself in the back only to be pulled out kicking and screaming. In 1999 Pippin developed a liver disease called Hepadic Lipidosis. He became anorexic, had loose stools, was jaundiced and vomited everything up we tried to put down him. He was so yellow it looked like his ears and nose had been colored with a highliter! After a week of him keeping no food at all down despite injections of anti nausea drugs I was ready to give up and made an appointment to put him to sleep. We took him in and I was just sobbing and the goofy cat was in such good spirits that I let my vet and husband talk me into giving him until Monday. If he showed no improvement we would have to do it or he would just starve. I went to the health food store and looked in the homeopathic treatments for ones that would help nausea, found one for that and hyper salivation and went home and gave it to him. I figured he was going to die if I couldn't get him to eat anyway so why not try it. That day I did not try to feed him I just needed him not to vomit and after 24 hours I soaked some bread in chicken broth and got a bit down him and believe it or not it did not come up! It took me another 5 weeks of force feeding him and daily fluid therapy until his body finally told him to eat on his own. My vet was amazed, she now has her own practice and uses some homeopathics in it. Pippin is back to his big beautiful self horray!!!
