Have had him from before he was born. Never meant to have so many cats, but shortly after his birth (on my bed!) he was diagnosed with congenital heart disease. If we had left him at a shelter, he would have been put to sleep -- and that would be criminal, for such a loving, trusting creature. So we're his, now and forever.

Patch Plays Tag!

I too have been tagged to play the Olympics game!

My favorite Olympic Event is the long jump, cos I could jump from the fence to the car no problems.
I prefer winter olympics because it is less stressful on my tired heart.
The quirkiest things I do is sit on people's laps when they're on the potty, and attack human fingers if they're wrapped in facial tissues.
Nope, I'm a proud bachelor.
My favorite rosies/zealies are the ones that last the longest!

Okay you next 5. Your turn to answer:
1. Your Favorite Olympic Event
2. Do you prefer Summer or Winter Olympics
3. What is the quirkiest thing you do
4. Do you have a crush on another kitty? Who?
5. What is your favorite rosie or zealie?

I tag:
KC Sunshine
Lilly
Faith
Miracle
Whisper

Have fun kitties! Hope you are up for the challenge.

3 months on ...

3 months on, and my owner still cries. It's as if sometimes she thinks I'm really gone, though I'm not, I'm still with her, in her heart.

My brother Claude and sister Tuppenny are now on the preventative Nattokinase that could have saved my life!

3 days ago was a bad day for my momma-human. The day before I threw the clot, there was no sign I was sick! We were playing my favourite game, "attack-the-finger-in-the-tissue", and I got so carried away, I bit down hard on her left thumb.

After I passed, my momma-human watched the dot on her finger nail grow up and up ... and yesterday she had to trim the nail, and cried and cried. One less link to a happy memory.

My brother tries to heal her hurt. I used to be her one-and-only lap-cat, but now that's Claude's special spot. I used to be the spider-spotter, but now that's Tuppeny's job. I used to cry and cry when my momma-human went into the study to submit her work, but now Tuppenny does that in MY voice, not hers. And outside, Claude looks after Tuppenny and defends the backyard, the way I used to do.

I wish my momma-human could find solace in that all day, every day, up until I threw that clot, I knew only love and never knew pain, and now again I feel no pain, but she does not.

She misses me, and I miss her, but I'm not so far away.

Just over the rainbow bridge.

So long, farewell and amen.

Patch fought for 34 hours against his blood clot. His bloodwork, blood gases, ECG - everything looked good. But he developed a massive internal bleed, a side effect of the Heparin, and was at risk of bleeding out, so Heparin had to be discontinued, at least temporarily, while the bleed was stabilised.

Unfortunately, without the Heparin, he threw another clot, this time to his liver, and became jaundiced. This was all too much for his tired heart to stand, and at 4.24am AEST, his blood pressure dropped, his heart stopped beating, and passed over the rainbow bridge.

Patch is survived by younger (by 30 mins) brother Claude, by younger (by 1 hour) sister Tuppenny, by his mother Kitty, and by his human family. He is very sorely missed.
