Arrival Story: Decar showed up on our back deck in 1999, and was very nervous and anxious. She looked pretty rough; she probably traveled far and lived a hard-knock cat-life. It took her about three or four days to trust us enough to come in our house and take some food, but then she realized that we loved her and that she was safe and comfortable. We took her to the vet a few months later, and the vet estimated that she was anywhere from 8 to 12 years old (in 1999). Since then, she has been a part of our family. Quiet, sweet, gentle, and sleepy: that's our Decar!

Bio: Her name is pronounced "Decker."

Hi Decar - I know it probably seems stupid to type a message to you, but maybe it will help us feel just a bit better about losing you, Sweet Decar. It was 8 months ago that we lost you; it was the hardest thing that I've ever had to do in my life, but we knew that it was time. The doctor, Liz Jennings, was so sweet to you and tried to make sure that you were as comfortable as possible, and in as little pain as we could imagine. I know that you were scared, Decar, but you were so brave - letting Mommy hold you tight as we drove to the hospital, knowing that we would do all we could to help you. We miss you so much, Decar, and right now tears are streaming down my face. Your sister Cow Cat misses you, too, and we try to tell her that you're OK and miss her too.
We love you Decar.
Your Family,
Dave, Pam, Ash, and Ches
