Arrival Story:
We wandered across the back deck into the kitchen one night when it was warm enough to leave the kitchen door open. There on top of the cat tree, helping himself to cat food soup, was this skinny, coarse-haired black cat. He bolted out the door, across the deck, and through the back yard before we could get a good look at him. Definitely collarless. Jennifer (my then-GF) spent a couple of weeks (at least) coaxing him over to a dish of kibble behind the garage, and finally he was tolerating being petted.Soon enough, he joined us indoors for warmth, shelter, hot food, and restroom facilities. Now he makes special trips back into the house from outside, just to use the loo. He's evidently quite the aristocrat that way.

Bio:
He's a black and white cat, what my then-S.O. said they call a "tuxedo" in the veterinary trade (her current vocation). Plenty of other people probably call these markings tuxedo, too. He's low to the ground, broad across the shoulders, and mischievous--if you remember the early 007 flick "Goldfinger," the tuxedoed henchman Odd Job matches this description, too (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm075713 8/photogallery). Henchman or not, Odge is not the sharpest spike in the railroad tie. They're refurbishing a house next door, and he managed to crawl through the freshly-exposed crawl space and up into the attic. Three times. Tut and Mo come and go from the house as they please, but Odge has required multiple rescues--we've had to tear off a vent screen over there, miss work, climb ladders, and get scratched to ribbons. We cheerfully confess that Odge is no genius, though half the fun of owning is *usually* marvelling at how clever they are. What still blows us away about Odd Job is what we discovered shortly after we'd cajoled him into hanging around the house. Jennifer put a temp collar on him, asking anyone who knew about him to call her with any info they could. Turns out his previous owners lived a couple blocks away, and they moved and didn't take him along. They moved about 4 miles away. Why get a cat at all if this is your idea of how to take care of him when you move? Sheesh.
