Arrival Story:
I was adopted from the humane society. I was maybe a year old, just spayed and so scared. I had huge gold eyes and looked at mom and she took me home. I turned into a pretty little girl, will always be small and my eyes are no longer gold but mom still loves me. My favorite thing is to curl up and sleep. I also have a mouth disease called stomatitis so have to have shots monthly for this. Without them I can't eat or groom myself so my people learned how to do this so I wouldn't have to go to the vet each month.

I have wacky whiskers. They go every which way.

About me

Nearly toothless

Well here it is November. The darn stomatitis just isn't getting better. I take the shots and feel better but it never goes away. Mom took me in on 11/27/07 and the vet pulled 13 more teeth so I have all of 4 left. 2 top and 2 bottom. I got home from the vet and in spite of everything was hungry so had some dinner then a nap. I'm back on the nasty tasting stuff for another week for infection. The vet says he doesn't guarantee this will fix it but hope it helps. Only time will tell. Ok, time for another nap.

Mouth troubles

I have a disease called Stomatitis. Mom says it's just an awful thing. It makes my gums hurt and bleed and I get tired and lose weight because it hurts to much to eat. Mom took me to the vet last June and they pulled half my teeth. I went in there with them and when I woke up they were gone! It hurt at first but then I felt lots better.
But then summer arrived and as I'm an indoor/outdoor gal I didn't want to come in for my meds so my mouth got all bad again. Mom made an appointment for the vet and I fooled her by not coming home :-) But alas, she finally caught me and took me in.
Actually I was sorta happy cause my mouth really hurt. They gave me a shot and when I got home Mom "made" me stay in so I could have the ucky medicine. Even tho it tastes bad I feel so much better. My mouth is no longer bleeding and I've been able to eat and have gained some weight. Tomorrow it's back to the vet for a check-up. I wanted out but couldn't fool Mom this time and she wouldn't let me out!

My update

Friday, April 27, 2007. I have been having a lot of trouble with my mouth. The shots aren't working as good or as long as they did before. Mom took me to the vet a few weeks ago. He did some tests, gave me some antibiotics and said to come back for a dental in a couple of weeks. Well let me tell you mom had fun giving me all those liquid drugs! If dad was home it was easier for her but alone, I won half the time :-) But along came the 27th and a trip to the vet. He pulled all the teeth on my right side except for the canines and put me on oral antibiotics for another 10 days. He is hoping this will help the mouth disease. If not, they will probably have to take the teeth on the other side :-( Mom is again fighting me with the drops daily. They just don't taste good...I go back in a month and the vet will decide what is to be done next. I heard mom say that if the teeth pulling helps it'll all be worth it. I am eating better now and mom says I'm plumping up, whatever that is. I'll keep you posted.
