I had always wanted a cat as a pet, and then we decided to grab a newspaper and call every place and home selling kittens around town. We finally reached a family whos kittens were 8 weeks old, have had all of their shots, and were litter-trained. We rushed over there on the 15th of June, 2003. When we arrived, the owner of the kittens showed us to the kitty room and told us that we could have the only female black kitten or a male orange tabby kitten. I really wanted a female cat, so I chose the black kitty with a tiny white belly and tiny white toes on her back leg. I knew that it was my destiny to get her, and so I named her so. Destiny. I get the nickname, NE-NE, from -ny at the end of Destiny.
Back in the summer of 2004, the worst news ever struck my ears. Ne-Ne had gotten sick from eating a bad brand of cat food. She wouldn't eat anything, including the food she was eating before. She wasn't drinking any water, either. So, for 3 days, my mom and I had to force-water her using a plastic syringe full of water. She was losing weight, and we thought that she wouldn't make it through those long summer nights. Finally, after 3 days of watching my beloved Ne-Ne slowly starving to death, my mom called my aunt and asked her what we should do. Her response was, "There is an All Feline Hospital here in town. Take Ne-Ne there." So, me, my mom, and Ne-Ne all hopped in the van driving to the kitty hospital. They were very nice and understood our situation, and took Ne-Ne in for 2 days and 2 nights, feeding her, watering her, and giving her medicine that would make her healthy again. As the 3rd day finally approached, we got a call saying that it was time to pick up Ne-Ne, and that she was healthy, and that she was on a new brand of cat food that would help her stay healthy. So, we brought her home, thanking God for keeping my little Ne-Ne safe. >'*'
