Brown Tabby

I'm a laid back, cuddly Norwegian Forest Cat, and therefore enjoy doing cuddly things - I love to curl up on the bed with mom and dad (especially on top of mom's head or next to her feet), and I also enjoy being petted by pretty much anyone.

I'm a cat, and even pretty laid back cats have their pet peeves. Some things I don't like are getting licked by the dog, having to tolerate the dog on the bed, riding in the car, and getting my hair cut in a "Lion Cut" for summer.

Favorite Toy:
I am a great huntress and therefore enjoy anything that I get to hunt, such as toy mice, my red and white plush starfish, my feline siblings, and above all, the laser pointer.

Favorite Nap Spot:
I'm rather picky about my nap spots and have a couple of favorites around the house. Some places I'll hang out are the top level of my kitty condo, the window sills, and mom and dad's bed. I also like the right arm of the couch at times.

Favorite Food:
Cat food, thank you very much. People food is all nice and good, but to tell you the truth, unless it's chips, French fries, or pizza crust, I'm just not interested. Fish? Yuck.

Of course. I'm a wonderful, adorable ball of fluff. Looking fluffy all day takes a lot of skill.

Arrival Story:
While we lived in Newport News, Virginia, we decided to head to the local SPCA shelter to see whether we could find a second cat to keep our Maus company. We went in with the purpose of finding a cat that was laid back and friendly rather than having a specific breed, color, or age in mind. In the end, we found two we really liked: an orange and white tabby who was grabbing at us through the cage bars, and a big fluffy cat of whom we mainly saw two ears sticking out from a cat cozy. After getting a chance to pick up and pet the latter, we decided to get her. She was just too purry, cuddly, and laid back, to resist her charm. Because she'd been surrendered with a collar and tag, we found out that she'd previously been registered at the vet's office on Fort Eustis. The vet there kindly provided us with a copy of her medical file and while she seems to have had a lot of issues with her previous owners, we have not had to rush her to the vet for any of the ones described in her file. Actually, she's been perfectly healthy, happy, and easygoing with us since day one.

Murphy passed away on Wednesday, 12 August 2009, of health conditions related to old age. She had been starting to decline since our move, having trouble walking, getting in and out of the litterbox, and grooming herself. Over the last week, she began to hide away and refuse food. We've had to make the difficult decision to have her put down, as she was in pain and suffering from being unable to care for herself. It was quick and painless, and she is now buried in the meadow behind the house (which is legal in our county).
