Cream Tabby

I'm a cat of leisure and will gladly sleep anywhere, as long as it's comfortable or warm. Some of my favorite spots include the counter above the dishwasher, the couch, and next to mom and dad in bed. I also like talking to dad in the morning.

I'm not a great fan of the dog, but I'll tolerate her if I must. The other thing that annoys me is when I don't get fed right away in the morning, even though I let mom know it's time to feed the kitties NOW! (Or is that, MEOW!)

Favorite Toy:
I was not terribly interested in cat toys, until mom bought a pink terrycloth starfish for me when I was a young kitten. I still go nuts about that one, even though I have lots of other toys and other cats to play with.

Favorite Nap Spot:
Daddy's office chair, the bed, the kitchen counter, my cat tree, the top of the dog crate, on top of the dishwasher, on top of the microwave ... you name it, I sleep there.

Favorite Food:
Honestly - do I look like I'm a picky eater? In reality, I will sample most things at least once, but some of my all-time favorites are chocolate milk, yogurt, and anything that has tomato sauce on it, such as pizza and lasagna.

I've mastered the art of getting into the bottom of yogurt jars and cups that had chocolate milk in them by using my little paw and then licking it clean. I can also make daddy get up to pay attention to me in the morning by jumping on his bladder.

Arrival Story:
In 1999 I was living in Maryland and one of my roommates brought home a young semi-feral tabby cat he'd picked up at his place of work where the employees cared for a large colony of feral cats at the time. Not too long after getting her, she had kittens. We'd just moved into a new apartment and she ended up giving birth not in the box we'd prepared for her (blankets and all), but on top of a stack of moving boxes taller than me. At around 2 in the afternoon I heard a faint "mew" up there and found she'd given birth to an orange tabby kitten. I moved mom and kitten to the box I'd prepared for her, and waited for the rest of the litter, but none came. Eight hours later while I was surfing the Internet, she went into labor again and gave birth to a black kitten, who was unfortunately stillborn. Shortly thereafter, she had another - my little miracle kitten, Maus. Although the original plan was to find the kittens good homes after they were old enough to be separated from their mother, I ended up keeping Maus for myself. He's since moved with me three separate times, and even survived Hurricane Isabel with us.

Current Happenings:
26 April 2008 Unfortunately, we have had to make the difficult decision to have Maus put to sleep this afternoon, after a two week battle with feline hepatic lipidosis. There was nothing else that could have been done. He will be sorely, sorely missed.
