Arrival Story:
Blockhead came to us when I found him with a terrible burst abscess on his head! He needed surgery right away, so I took him from his horrible neglectful "owners" and he did great! Unfortunately, the tumour grew back over time, and the biopsy showed it was cancerous. Although I would have gladly paid for another surgery, the vet said at best she could give him a 50% chance of the tumour not coming back a third time - and the surgery would remove his ear, and require extensive skin grafting. We decided not to put him through the suffering, and instead made life as happy as we possibly could until the tumour became too bad. He had a few months of happiness, and then the tumour caused a wound to form and spread across the top of his head. Once it got too bad, we decided to put him to sleep before it caused him any suffering. It was one of the hardest series of decisions I've ever had to make, and I pray that I made the right ones. Would he have wanted to go through the surgery? Would he have wanted to keep living with the open wound? I hope he understands I did the best I could.
