Mom's Dad Is Driving Again

Just a quick update on Mom's Dad....

He's doing quite well. Eating lots of oatmeal...and other healthy foods. Taking his meds like he's suppose to. Yesterday was the first day he was allowed to drive since the heart attack and surgery...and he was very happy to get permission to hit the road again! He still will be following up with his cardiologist this Wednesday...so we'll keep you posted!

Dale's participating in the Memphis MS 150 cycling event today...His team's completed the first section of the race, and he's now relaxing for the 2nd half tomorrow. Didn't hear of any major crashes or anything like that...let's hope tomorrow's the same - good weather and all!

Not much to update

Well, not much of an update today of Mom's Dad (Scott). For some reason, the hospital only wrote his prescriptions for one week after his discharge, so he had to be taken to his doctor to get additional meds. Other than that - nothing new! He's feeling just fine and over-doing his activities....as expected! We think he's doing fairly well with his new diet though.

Lucky is feeling better today! Mom and Dale thought he might have had a UTI...he tried and tried...then whimpered yesterday. Today, thankfully doesn't seem to be a problem. Maybe his "Luck" is changing!

Well, I guess that's all for now - See everyone at the LLS!

Thank you all so much

I just wanted to thank everyone for so much love and support!!!

Mom's Daddy (Scott) is still not resting like he is suppose to, but seems to be doing well otherwise (according to Mom's Mom, Kathy). He had honeydew melon for breakfast this morning and homemade veggie soup for lunch. Thank goodness he's eating the healthy foods so well. At 2 this afternoon, he was outside washing his truck - which is not good or bad....so long as he's careful. Mom's Mom doesn't work, so she's keeping a careful eye on him!

Thank you again for all of your encouragement...we'll keep you posted. Your thoughts, purrrs and prayers are greatly appreciated...

Love, Truman and Jill

We're Stressfully Home!

Hello All...
I'm sorry I will not be able to attend the LLS tonight as planned...Mommy is very stressed and tired from this weekend's activities. We did arrive home in the Memphis area safely though, and I wanted to say a quick hello.

Here's what's going on. Mom can share the story:

Hello Friends and Family....

As most of you know, my father had a heart attack the day Dale and I were traveling home for my cousin, Mikey's, wedding. For those of you who were unaware of this situation, I wanted to apoligize...but the rush was too hectic...so I will briefly catch you up.

Daddy had the heart attack at work...and proceeded to drive himself to Bradley Memorial hospital - a 15 min. drive. Since my aunt Glenda works there, she was able to meet him at the emergency entrance and assist him. Once BMH confirmed that he was indeed having a heart attack, he was transferred to Memorial hospital in Chattanooga via ambulance and placed in Cardiac Critical Care. The procedure went smoothly with less fuss from Daddy than most expected. A stint was inserted, and the blockage was eliminated. The hardest part was keeping Daddy still 10 hours and keeping him in the hospital for 4 days! Thank goodness for the many guests that occupied his time:-)

Daddy was released on Saturday afternoon, September 2nd, just in time to go to Mikey and Tiffany's wedding...which he actually truly wanted to attend. He's not necessarily taking it quite as easy as the doctor recommended, but everyone is doing their best to take care of him.

The wedding went very well. Daddy was glad to be there and took it easy most of the night. Tiffany, of course, was beautiful! At the reception, I made Daddy a plate of healthy foods...then he ate it and proceeded back to the buffet for the foods he really wanted. I guess after the hospital food, he could have one small break...no wedding cake though!

Dad is to follow up with his new cardiologist on September 20th for future care, but is currently on three medications...as well as a low sodium and no cholesterol diet....and no pipe! He is not allowed to drive for 2 weeks (which may kill him before his health concerns) and cannot return to work for 6 weeks. Even at that time, he will have to keep a lighter duty.

Please continue to pray for my Dad and for all the friends and family members watching over him. These lifestyle changes are certainly not easy on Daddy....and even harder on those who love him to enforce. Mom can cook healthy meals...Uncle Mike can guard him in the garage...but the rest of the time??? He was definitely scared...so hopefully all will be okay.

Thank you everyone -
Love, Jill

A big, watery mess!

Well, it's nice to see that mom's finally willing to write in my diary for me again!

Tonight Mom and Dale have spent the evening cleaning a big mess! The guest bathroom toilet overflowed for some amount of time....and flooded the entire bathroom, the hall...and even went thru the walls into the formal living room and kitchen. What a mess!!! I spent my time shaking the water from my paws and hiding from the big, noisy machine they used to clean with (a rug doctor).

Lucky has heartworms!

Hello Everyone...
Been so busy with The Social Cats...haven't had time for my own diary!

Just wanted to leave this message for any kit who reads my diary:

Please purr and pray for my dog, Lucky. Although I got a clean bill of health at the vet last week...we found out today that Lucky has heartworms. As most of you know, Lucky was adopted back in February from a rescue organization....and it appears that he was undiagnosed at that time. Mom and Dale have kept him on both Frontline and Heart Guard since he's been living with us...but apparently it was a little late for his care.

Mom and Dale are taking him back to the vet for additional tests in the morning...and seeking a course of treatment. So, please, remember our family tomorrow!

Too busy for my own diary...wheew

Wow...been a long time since I've written in my diary. That's kinda sad...but alot's been going on...so...I'll try to do better!

My new project - The Social Cats group - has definitely been keeping me busy here on Catster. I really enjoy it though! It so wonderful to be surrounded by such wonderful friends - I'm such a lucky boy. So, anyone who's reading my diary: Please check it out! Everyone is welcome to join, and it's going to be alot of fun....celebrating holidays together, birthdays..and everything in between:-)

Mom and Dale have been pretty busy too. Dale's about to start a new position at his job. He's really excited about that. Mom's still stressing over all her pre-reqs and optometry school application stuff. I try to take care of them best I can. Basketball season is coming to a close...so I know they're going to need me to entertain them even more!

I guess I have never written about Lucky either, huh. Well, a couple months ago, Mom and Dale adopted - yes, I'm about to say it - a DOG. His name is Lucky, and he's a Great Pyrenese/Lab mix and is 1 1/2 years old. He's a rescue dog from St. Francis Animal Rescue. He was abandoned as a puppy with the rest of hsi litter. For a dog - he's okay. He really wants to be my friend, but I prefer to ignore him. I don't mind him at all - I just ignore him.

Well, I think that about catches everyone up! Please forgive me...I'll try to do better!

I'm ready for mom to go to school!

This ice storm really has given me lots of time with mom...but no offense...I'm ready for her to go back to school! She was here all day Saturday, Sunday, and now her morning classes were cancelled today! I do love my Mommy; don't get me wrong. But a cat needs some sleep. I can't get in all my catnaps following her around! I've decided to let her study and watch tv on her own - which is big for me. I always have to be by her side...but I'm giving it up for the day.

Mom's Staying Home

Wow! Two weekends in a row??? I don't think this has ever happened before. Funny, the snow was much deeper last weekend...but I hear the roads are much worse today. Today is really all ice. It's been sleeting since about 3am...and hasn't stopped. Right now it's 24 degrees, and it's suppose to continue dropping all day, too. I sure hope the electricity stays on...I don't want to miss meeting with Marina tomorrow at La Kitty Cafe!

I Was Bad

I was soooo bad this morning...and Mom caught me! We're in the process of getting a fence, and I wanted to watch the men working on it outside. Well, all the chairs in the bay window were pushed underneath the table. I knew I had to find another way - so I pounced on the dining room table (where I know I am not allowed).

Just as was getting settled in on the table runner, inbetween the candlesticks, Mom walked into the room to get a fresh cup of coffee. I immediately jumped down without her saying a word, but I knew I was busted. As soon as my paws hit the floor, I went right to my Mom and rubbed on her ankles....that usually softens her up when I'm getting in trouble.

After a harsh warning/reminder not to be on the table, Mom pulled the blinds up a few inches and pulled a chair right under the window for me. I could see everything much better, too. So...to other cats interested in doing similar things....remember to always rub their ankles!
