our new(ish) house

We love our house. There aren't very good window sills to sit on, but I like to look out the big windows anyway. There are big patio doors, too, that let me see the birds in the back yard. This carpet is kind of tricky, though. It gets us in trouble because it's just too hard to resist the temptation of sharpening my claws on the rug. The little fake scratching box just doesn't do it for me (maybe not enough cat nip)!

My momma loves me

My mom hasn't been feeling 100% lately, so I've really cheered her up by being such a sweetheart. I am pretty possessive, though, so I won't let the other cat have much lap time. This time of year is also cold, and I want all the warmth to myself. Cuddling is the best way to accomplish that feat, and I'm pretty good at it if I do say so myself!

My mom thinks I'm amazing as a big brother. The little human continues to taunt me, tease me, and pull my tail; however, I remained grounded and never attack or retaliate against him. My restraint affords me great attention and loving from Mom.
The other cat in the house runs from that little bugger. I am strong, remain steadfast, and can take anything he dishes out!

The boy turns 1.

The human boy is getting bigger and keeps trying to pull my hair. I guess I'll give him a break since his birthday is tomorrow. My mom says she is very proud of me for tolerating the kid so well. I don't do anything when he shreiks, yanks on my tail, and tries to open-mouth kiss my head. Sure, my ears go back a bit, but I've never hissed or gotten mean with him. Maybe we'll keep him after all.

don't mess with my mom

That dog is going to get it yet. He acts too spastic and jumps around by the baby, nearly knocking him down. That makes my mom very angry! One of these times when I hear her yelling at the dog, I'm going to come to her rescue and give him my claws!!! He knows who is the alpha male.

I didn't do it!

So the mean old people doctor told my mom today that one of us gave her ringworm on her leg. No way! Yes, my mouth is kind of yucky and stinky, but I can't get any more teeth cleanings because the anesthesia about did me in last time. I completely deny that my licking has enough bacteria to give my mom cooties, though. It was probably Gris Gris.

the kid's not so bad

Having the new kid here hasn't been as bad as I had feared. Sure, he gets all my attention, and I resent him for that. But I'm still king of the crib around this joint, and everybody knows it! I try to get Mom's affection as much as possible, and maybe someday I'll even rub up against the kid.

my needs

There isn't much longer that I am going to be the center of attention. My mom says there's going to be a new baby in our house in February, and she doesn't mean a fur baby either. So I am sucking up for all the face rubbing and head stratching I can get while I can get it. I think the new boy will be lovable, but we better keep our distance from him at first.
There are lots of people who think cats "steal the breath" of babies because they like the smell of milk, but my mom knows we would never do that. I might want to snuggle with him because I love warm people so much, but I think I'll stay out of the baby bed and stay out of trouble!

Attack!!!

That damn dog...he was eating someone's hat today, so he really got in trouble with my mom. I don't like it when he makes my mom mad! Today the dog made the mistake of making my mom mad when I was near, and I let him have it. He got a good taste of my claws. That'll show him.

I might be little, but I beat up a big old dog today.

I'm quite a hunter.

I was looking for something new to eat recently. Or maybe I just wanted to play with it. Who knows...but the weather has recently chilled off a bit. Out here in the country, that means the mice come inside to be where it's warm. It really made my mom mad when there was mouse poop on the dresser and desk in the bedroom. So time for me to do something about it, right?! Mom just wishes it hadn't been while she was sleeping.

My mom had just bought a new "Kitty Tales" scrapbook for me and Gris (and a "Doggy Tales" one for that stupid dog). So when she woke up at 3:00 am when I got that darn mouse, she thought it was the fake tail hanging off the scrapbook that she was touching. But she wondered if that soft stuff she was touching was really the fake tail and threw on the light since I was throwing my trophy all over the bed. Alas, it was my prey. The little splats of blood all over the comforter freaked her out more than anything. Oh well, I got the mouse, eh?
