Birthday: August 4th 1993 Coloration: Spotted Likes: Food -- the more, the better! My human family (especially Jim-Dad), all the full body rubs he can get us to give him (especially armpit scratches), being "pounded," and being brushed with the Mama Cat Tongue (his stiff wire brush). Pet-Peeves: Veterinarians, Car rides, loud noises, manicures, sudden moves by anyone but him. The pathetic underlings, Steve and Haiku. Especially Haiku. Favorite Toy: "Da Bird", anything flat (like an emery board or a piece of paper), bugs Favorite Nap Spot: On my blanket on the love seat Favorite Food: Shrimp (I call them "Langos"), Daddy's barbecue -- especially pork! Skills: Lording it over my pathetic underlings, climbing as high as possible, getting into almost anything, and purring loudly enough to rattle the rafters! Sproinging the boingers (doorstops). indoors Arrival Story: After we lost King Bing, the God Cat, our hearts were broken. I had learned a lot about the Bengal breed, so I called the woman who owns Akerr's cattery, and told her I was looking for "Pet Boy," a large boy kitty with a purr that couldn't be silenced. She replied, "Pet Boy?! Pet Boy is sitting in my lap right now, and he's the only kitten in his litter who hasn't been adopted yet." So we made an appointment to meet Pet Boy and see if he was the kitten for us.
Pet Boy was playing with his littermates when we walked into the room. He stood up straight when he saw us and came running to me immediately, leaping into my arms. It was as if she had told him we were coming, and he knew he had to be on his best behavior because he was meant to spend his life with us. I'm sure it didn't hurt that I had rubbed catnip all over myself before we left home ;). Still, he was the only kitten in the group who came running to me. There was no doubt that he knew we were meant to be his family. He was 10 weeks old, and the breeder didn't normally release kittens until they had reached 12 weeks of age, but she made an exception for us because she had witnessed the instant bond that formed between us and Pet Boy. We fell in love at first sight, and we've never looked back since.
T.J. went to the Rainbow Bridge on March 9th, 2010 after a brief battle with a devastating brain tumor. Our hearts are badly bruised and battered, but we will always protect them. They carry such precious cargo. Bio: TJ has been a Godsend to us. He helped us to heal from losing Bingo, he taught us that we can love again, and he opened the door for Buddy Guy, Stevie Raow Vaughn, and Haiku to find happiness with us. Sadly, we had to assist T.J. on his journey to the Rainbow Bridge on the afternoon of March 9th, 2010. He had been struggling with seizures for several weeks, and it finally became apparent that he had a brain tumor. He will be the Heart of My Ever-Lovin' Momcat Heart as long as I live. TIME WARP
By Susan “Susie Squillions” Lynch, March 8th, 2011
On the eve of T.J.’s First Bridge Day
Where does time go
In the space of one year?
The memories, so distant
At once feel so near.
The scent of your fur,
The gaze in your eyes,
The sound of your purr…
Then I realize
That they’re only memories
Of things I hold dear
From when you were with me
At this time last year.
It’s all just a time warp.
Wherever you are
You live in my heart;
So near, yet so far.
T.J. made his journey at 1:50 PM on March 9th, 2010.
T.J. is the cat with the shimmering fur
Who rumbles a big, strong, leonine purr.
He has the most smashing, magnificent coat
Colored in shades of brown, gold, peach, and oat.
He rattles the rafters with greatest effect
You’ll know what he’s saying, oh yes, you can bet!
His meow is the best that you’ll ever hear
Whether it comes from quite far, or quite near.
The day that we met, he leapt into my arms
And wiggled right into my heart with his charms.
A heart that was broken from saying goodbye
To another wonderful, special, fur guy.
I swore that Bingo had tossed him to me
As if to say, “This is the one meant for thee.”
T.J. and me, we couldn’t have fought it
We were meant to be, no doubt about it.
I became Momcat and he was my fur son,
I didn’t know then he’d become Number One
Within my heart in the blink of an eye,
I thought he was just sent to silence my cries.
But he was the one who helped me to heal
And filled me with love that was ever so real.
He taught me that, yes, I could open my heart
And that loving him was the best way to start.
Now he is the one who is breaking my heart.
The time has now come when we have to part
So he can go on to his new life above,
But I know he’ll surround me with all his love.
* Rest In Peace and watch over us, beautiful T.J. You made your journey to the Rainbow Bridge at 1:50 PM on March 9th, 2010. You will always be the Heart of My Heart.
