Arrival Story:
Gemini was hanging around in the empty lot next to our house. Someone probably dumped her. We ignored her for a few days, thinking that she lived down the street. Then, when we noticed she was getting skinny, we fed her some dog food and cans of tuna. We bought some cat food, but she disappeared. Then about a month later, we heard her crying from a tree. We brought her down, fed her - boy was she skinny and her tail was mangy. We took her to the vet, got her shots, gave her plenty of love and attention, now she doesn't venture further than the driveway. PRETTY SCARY EVENT - About 2 weeks after we named her, she was inside one night and hid in one of the bedrooms. This was around the time that we were painting the laundary room, and had everything from the laundary cabinet in this particular bedroom. "Everything" included all of the dog food, toys, treats, heartworm preventive - and, yes - flea and tick medicine. Gemini somehow broke into the box, busted the vile and ingested some of it. I found her that morning seizing in the bathroom. She was unable to walk. My husband found the empty vile and called poison control, then took her to the vet. After a couple of shots of Benedryl, she has been doing fine. It taught us a lesson. We hadn't even had her that long when this happened, but I already loved her and was attached. It killed me to see her in pain like that.
