It was quite a coincidence. A few days after Skeeter was spayed, Happy gave birth to Pepino and Sparky.(Happy was a pregnant stray that I brought inside because it was winter and she was pregnant) I kept Happy and the kittens in the spare bedroom, away from the other cats, but after 3 or so weeks, Happy started coming outside to the porch by herself and she would leave the kittens inside for a few minutes. I would go get the kittens and bring them out to the living room and sit with them and watch them scoot around. The other cats would ignore them for the most part, but Skeeter was very interested in them. She would look at them with this LOOK in her eyes, it was as if she wanted those kittens for herself. I decided to let her get a closer look at the kittens. She smelled them and licked them as if they were hers. She would go to where they were and lie down next to them as if she wanted to play. So, everyday when Happy would go outside, I would bring the kittens to Skeeter and she would spend time with them. Happy nursed the kittens and slept with them at night, and Skeeter would 'babysit' them while she was out. A few weeks passed, the kittens were weaned, Happy was spayed and she decided she was going to go back outside.
The kittens stayed inside and Skeeter was always with them. They were always playing together and taking naps together. After a while Sparky didnt want to be around Skeeter as much anymore, but Pepino has always been close to her. To this day they are always together. They can usually be found napping in the laundry basket, wrestling on the living room rug, or chasing each other throughout the house. They also groom each other.
Skeeter never got to have a litter of her own, but she got to be a mom.
You can just SEE how much she loves her Pepino !
