Cream Tabby

Having his neck scratched, catching birds & insects, "hugging" his big sister Alexis

Being cuddled on the humans terms

Favorite Toy:
Laser light, His big sister, grasshoppers, single-use eye dropper tubes

Favorite Nap Spot:
Anywhere there's a fleece blanket, or on the end of the couch so he can see outside.

Favorite Food:
MEAT. He's a very picky eater when it comes to cat food. We try fancy feast and Friskies for wet. Max Cat for dry

He can jump really high. He thinks he can open doors with the handle, though he's not strong enough. We put a springy door stopper outside on the house, and he boings it when he wants to come inside.

indoors and outdoors

Arrival Story:
Hubby and I wanted a friend for Alexis, so we searched and searched in all different shelters and finally came upon Blake (his name was Sampson) and we fell in love. What a cutie! He was about 7 months old.

No idea about his beginnings. Even though we got him kind of old, he doesn't seem to have any "issues". He thinks he's quite the bad-ass, and likes to defend his territory from other cats in the 'hood. Excellent hunter.

Today was a sad day. Blake has been sick for a few weeks. Not eating or drinking but maybe a tablespoon in the past week. I was hoping he was just getting old and dying, but he was actually sick and dying. Kidney issues causing pain in his mouth was probably what was causing him not to eat. We (Blake's human mom & dad) both went to the vet to see if there was more we could do for him. He was on antibiotics, pain meds, appetite stimulant, etc. It would have been inhumane to let him suffer with his ailments, and we would have had to keep him in practically a comatose state to not be in discomfort.

So today, we euthanized Blake. I held and kissed his face, and I felt his head go limp right away. It took longer than normal for the medicine to go through his frail body because he was so dehydrated. But finally, Dr. Koble said his heart stopped. She did such a wonderful job explaining exactly what to expect. I got to hold him for a few minutes before they took him away for a footprint and to put him in a box for us. They were able to fit the red blanket that he had become so attached that daddy brought home from the vet that last time he took him in.

He's in the garage, in a white box with his red blanket. I took him out today to show Crystal and to hold and stroke him again. I'm so sad, but glad we don't have to worry any more about how he's doing. Mama and Daddy love you Blakey Boy. xoxo Until we meet again at the Rainbow Bridge.

In November and December I was so sick. Mommy nursed me back to health with some steroids, Subq fluids with b12 added, and best of all, HOME MADE cat food!!! Nom Nom Nom. Sometimes she sneaks in some commercial canned food (the stuff that's mostly meat, not the other stuff that was hurting my tummy). She says it's got more of the vitamins I need, but it doesn't taste as good as the raw diet of chicken!

Anyway, I'm feeling better and I look so much more handsome since I have enough energy to groom myself.

Keep my mama away from me.

I have been very sick, and my mama was thinking it was time to let me go to the Rainbow Bridge. I know I was so tired and so cold, but she forgets I still have some of my 9 lives to use up!!!

Actually, mama is taking the bestest care of me! She's making me special food from her and dad's people food - chicken! Nom Nom Nom Nom Nom Nom Nom. She also bought me canned stuff that has no grains in it. Doc thinks I have Inflamatory Bowel Disease, and the grocery store food makes my tummy bad. She's had to give me fluids with a big needle... sometimes she's spot on and it doesn't hurt a bit! It makes me feel so much better, because there is this pink stuff in it now... vitamins that help meowt.
