Arrival Story:
Jordan spent the first nine years of her life in a house with an older lady and a dog. Her owner passed away suddenly, another family member took the dog, and Jordan was left alone in the woman's apartment for nearly a month, with someone occasionally throwing down some food and water. The woman's niece was a co-worker of a friend of mine who knew I had thing for grey boy kitties -- with the name Jordan, she thought this one was a boy too. I really felt my house was full with three cats, but I couldn't say no to a homeless blue boy... who turned out to be a grey tabby female. ;-) She was a completely neurotic wreck by the time I got her, after losing both her owner and her canine friend and being abandoned. She immediately clung on to me. She does not like the other cats at all, and I know she'd be happier in a one-cat household, but she's so attached to me that I can't see putting her through the trauma of another move. So, she has her own food bowl and litterbox, her own toys, and she's pretty much made my home office her "room," where she hides out when she wants to be left alone. But as soon as I get into bed at night, she's right next to me!

Bio:
Jordie is a sweet, special girl with more than a few quirks. Her pleasures are simple -- a nap in the window, cuddling with mom, a treat before bedtime. She is the only one of my cats who truly enjoys being picked up and held, and will even snuggle into my shoulder and neck like a baby. She was also, for the first couple of years I had her, invisible to anyone but me. Several of my friends thought I was making her up, since they never saw her. She hid the second anyone other than me was in the house, unless that person was a dog owner! Then she would have to come out and sniff around -- it must have reminded her of her canine friend from her first home. Nowadays, she's a bit bolder, letting others see her if not touch her, although anything more than 2-3 people is a crowd in her book. Jordie (like her mom) is a curvaceous lady who never met a meal she didn't like, and has very groovy white "eyeliner" around her big beautiful eyes. When she's snuggling, she purrs like a freight train, and sometimes at night she snores so loud she wakes me up. She chatters away whenever we are in a room alone together -- I'm sure trying to tell me about all the bad things the other cats have done while I was out! (Update, October 2006: Sweet Jordan's kidney disease began to progress quickly in late summer of this year, and when it became clear that she was experiencing a significant decline in her quality of life even with supportive care, my vet and I made the decision to let her go peacefully over the Rainbow Bridge. I held her in my arms in her favorite red blanket while we said goodbye. Many thanks to all of her 2 and 4 legged friends for loving my special girl!)
