Arrival Story:
We went on our annual trip to Greece at the end of August and hadn't been in the house for more than a couple days when we heard the mewing of tiny kittens. I had been complaining that there were no kittens at the house this year and then Zeus sent four of them to us. The mother had them in the flower bed of the vacant house next door and their little eyes were still blue. Little dandelion puffs, with hair sticking out all over the place. Soooo of course I brought them to our house. We have a high stone wall all around the property so nothing can get in to harm them. But, Mom had other ideas and a couple mornings later when I got up they were gone. She had climbed over the wall four times with a baby in her mouth. The next day we were on the way to the grocery store when I spotted them in the Oleander bushes and Paisa came running out to greet us. I gathered up the three I could catch and put them back inside the walled courtyard, but this time I left the gate open. The next day the missing kitten (Rupert) was in the back yard with the others. I closed the gate and there they stayed. I fed them all and finally got the Mom to trust this "baby thief". Paisa attached herself to us and I knew I would bring her home. I e-mailed several "friends" in Kentucky, offering to pay for shots and transportation home if they would just adopt a kitten. No takers :-( As it turns out she was too young for the shots anyway, but she was microchipped and got her Passport (won't go into details on how we swung it). I feel good knowing I saved one little kitten that probably wouldn't have survived the winter. I can only hope the ones I had to leave behind will make it.

Bio:
We couldn't get the thought of Mom and the babies suffering for lack of food and water. So we bought a food and water system that will hold enough for a week at a time. Then we left enough money for dry cat food to last through the winer with the guy who comes in weekly to water the plants and he agreed to refill each time he came over. Belive me he's toast if he doesn't keep his end of the bargain! Hopefully MammaKitty can keep most of the other feral cats away long enough for the kittens to hold their own. ( picture of the feeder is on page two) BTW Mommy is nuts over Edith Piaf...just in case you couldn't tell.
