Arrival Story: Tigger and Taylor's Story as told by Taylor~~We had a feral mom. We were born in a building across the way from our parents' duplex in October of 1992. My human mom's sister had heard meowing coming from the place where two buildings met. (The buildings were going to be demolished to allow for the widening of the road.) My human uncle took a crowbar and gently broke through. There was a little face peering back at him from the hole he'd created!
Mom took the kitten inside and got milk replacement for him (later to be named Tigger) and a heating pad. The next day my aunt heard more meowing coming from the hole. There was a sweet fluffy black face peering out--me! I would not let the humans pull me out; it took all day. They finally got some tuna and I ventured close enough to the hole for their friend's son to pull me out.
The next day, a Monday, Mom took us to the vet. Ends up we were around 7 days old. Mom and Dad raised us up and decided to keep us.

Bio: Sister to Tigger, adopted sister to Bob, Pippin, Marmelade and Midge. Is afraid of strangers and even our friends. Is affectionate with her mom and dad though. She likes my singing; whenever I start she comes running up and stares into my eyes, rubbing up against me!
****06/23/08 Taylor has hyperthyroidism which has caused her to lose weight rapidly despite her eating like a horse. She is on medication for it now.
****08/12/08 Taylor recently had a blood test and her liver values came back very high. We are waiting to find out what is the cause. Please say a prayer for my girl.
****10/31/08 Taylor's Hyperthyroidism is under control and her liver values are coming down. We will update you when she has her next check up.
****12/26/08 Taylor's blood work came back and her T4 number is elevated. We think it's because she is fighting us giving her the medicine and sometimes we find undigested pills the little bugger is spitting out! Her liver values were better, which is good.
****05/24/09 Good News! Taylor is doing much better. We switched her over to liquid Methimazole, which she doesn't hate as much as she does the pills. She had a blood panel and her thyroid level came back right where it should be! And, her liver and kidney values are normal :) She even gained half a pound over the past month.
****08/06/09 Taylor is doing fairly well. She is maintaining her weight, though it is still on the low side. She still has her catitude, especially when we give her the medicine!
****01/31/10 Please see Taylor's Diary for further updates.

OMC, Mommy opened her email tonight and there were lots of emails from Catster cats and one from headquarters saying my diary was the Diary Pick of the Day! How cool is that?!! I haven't had a chance to look at my gifties and p-mails yet. Mom has had a long day helping grandmaw come home from the hospital and get situated. But, once I have a chance I am going to read and look at them all. Thank you so much my friends!
Love,
Taylor

Hi Friends,
I had a good day yesterday! I spent some time up and about, and also spent time laying across Mom's legs while she was at the catop catputer. She put a space heater on for me, which I really enjoy! We had a session of grooming :) I ate my pureed food really well too. My gums look so much better, though not normal yet. I was a champ at getting my fluids! All in all it was a positive day.
Mom is so happy because sometimes the bad days seem to outweigh the good and she gets worried about how long I might have left. She seems to be doing that a lot since I turned 17. But, none of us knows how long we have on this earth. Some kitties barely get a shot at life. I've had a very long and mostly healthy life up until I got the Hyperthyroidism, and even with the disease I have my good days.
I'm taking a page from my heroes on Catster and giving this a hearty fight!
Love and purrs,
Taylor

Hi Friends,
My gums are looking a LOT better and the fluids are working their magic! I don't know what the long term will bring, but I am definitely feeling better right this moment. I'm doing well on my pureed food. I ate 3/4 of a can's worth this morning! The next step is for me to get my recheck on the 11th to see how my blood values are doing. Then the vet can see if my kidneys are functioning properly.
I wanted to give a shout out to Rocky Ann, Louis LeBeau, and my other kitty friends who are in the fight of their lives. They are my inspirations! I love you guys!
Purrs,
Taylor
P.S. My grandmaw is doing alright after her surgery. She is having some hearing problems which the doctor thinks might be a virus, and she had some nausea with the morphine drip they gave her for the pain, so they switched up her meds. Please keep up the purrs for her to recover fully and for the back surgery to work as they hope!
