Hi Friends,

Mom and I just got back from my checkup. I gained 9 ounces in the past month! My vet and mom are really happy, and so am I. Being off the renal diet has its pros and cons, but putting on extra weight is a good thing in my case. And, I am actually enjoying my regular food!

The vet techs did my blood pressure check in the exam room this time with Mom present. My blood pressure was on the low side, so Dr. Ginny is adjusting my medicine down. Mom suggested since I get stressed being taken to the back and having my pressure taken, that future blood pressure readings be done in the exam room with her present. Hopefully this will give a more accurate average.

My next appointment is in four weeks. I will have another blood pressure check and a mini-blood panel done to see where my BUN and Creatinine are at. I will keep you posted.

Uncle Tigger, that is great news! We are so happy that you are eating and putting on weight. It is a good sign that you have your appetite. I don't blame you for not wanting to eat that yucky renal food.

from our Mommy - Angel RA use to have her blood pressure taken in the room with us and I think that does help get a more accurate reading. With eating regular food, Tigger's BUN might be higher but that doesn't matter, it is the Creatinine & Phosphorus numbers to watch. I think it is good that he is getting more protein and will help him keep his muscle mass.
