Catnip! He gets really greedy with it!
His biggest pet peeve is the dog! There is a lot of jealosy between them!
Just about anything he can bat around. He loves it when you play along with him.
Favorite Nap Spot:
on the bed or on the sofa
Pounce or Tempations. Oddly enough, he's not into people food..just cat food/treats.
He's a great jumper!
A friend of mine was looking for an apartment, but the rental agent didn't show up. My friend went to find a pay phone and I waited on the steps at the place. A cat came out of the bushes and came over to me. I started to pet the kitty and two women who were walking by asked me if it was my cat and I told them no. Then they told me about a little boy holding a sign for free kittens. I went over to see the kittens. All of them were adopted, except the little runt of the litter. He was so tiny, and his eyes hadn't changed color yet like his siblings. I fell in love with him as soon as I saw him. I was hoping that his eyes may stay blue...but they eventually changed into a lovely amber color. He cried the whole way home and then cried all night long. Within a few days he got used to his surroundings and the crying stopped. I was initially afraid to put him with my three other adult cats at first, because he seemed so tiny. I remember putting down food in front of him and my adult cat Jack shoved him out of the way and started to gobble his food...Sammy, not to be outdone, actually got mad and attacked Jack so he could have the food all to himself. It was at this point I knew I had nothing to worry about, this cat could fend for himself!
Sammy currently lives with me and a Samoyed dog named Aspen. When I adopted my dog Aspen, at first Sammy hated him...and started to spray around the house. I took him to the Vet's to find out what I could do to stop this behavior, the Vet recommended putting him on anti-anxiety drugs...but I decided to try something different. In order to make him feel special, I bought him a little bandanna that he wears around his neck. This made him feel like he was special, because none of the other animals had one. Shortly afterwards, the spraying stopped. He now has a bandanna for every season and holiday, and he prances around like he' s in a fashion show now.
Between Thanksgiving and Christmas, Sammy has lost his two kitty companions, Whitey and Perry. He seems very upset over this and I'm doing my best to comfort him.
UPDATE! Sammy seems much better now! I"m glad that he's no longer upset about the loss of his 2 buddies.
Sammy is doing great. He loves being the only cat in the house. I noticed that he now will eat his food periodically throughout the day, where before he would gobble up as much food as he could and try to finish what was left in the other cat bowls. His behavior is less frantic and he's much more relaxed. His new thing is that he has been climbing into my lap (something he hasn't done before). I was thinking of getting another cat, but I've changed my mind because Sammy seems so happy right now, and I would like to preserve his peaceful existence.
Sadly, Sammy has passed over to rainbow bridge. He was 15 1/2 years old. He had cancerous tumors in his lungs and was having trouble breathing. I had to make the agonizing decision to put him to sleep. It was the right thing to do, since he was suffering the last few days he was with me. R.I.P. Sammy, I love you!
