Arrival Story:
When Ug was about a year old I found her "stuck" in a tree. I talked her down and she moved into our garage. Looking back, I think she was searching for someone who would take the time to get her out of a tree because she was up and down them all the time. For weeks Ug stayed in the garage at my mom’s house. She was declawed but not yet spayed. I carried her around the neighborhood asking if anyone had lost a cat. One lady said, “ no but it looks like she has found a home” That was when I was sure we were meant for each other. I never really liked cats, but Ugly was petite and kind. After my bother left for college, my mom said I could let her in the house. We had her spayed and she became an indoor/outdoor cat until I went to college. By the time I went to college I had Roger also and they both took the journey with me. Fifteen years later I’m thankful that I found the love of cats through this tiny torti.

After 14 years Ug developed early renal disease and cardiomyopathy. At the moment she is doing well, but still has bad days.

Mom got another kitten. She is such a sucker. Everytime someone brings in a kitten that reminds her of me she wants to take it home. She's been good until a few weeks ago.

One of mom's friends stopped by her work with a 6 month old kitten. Mom said she looks just like me. At first dad thought she look too much like me because mom would cry whenever she looked at her.

Now that the kitten's personality is emerging mom laughs when she watches her. (which was the intention)

My poor kitten

I'm sad to say that Ugly went to the rainbow bridge on thursday November 3rd at 5pm. Not sad for her but for me. Her kidney disease had worsened and with the complications of her heart condition there was no good choice. She felt sick and ouchie. It was either let her go on thursday or take her home and watch her deteriorate.

I know I did what was right for her but I would have liked her to live here with me forever. Maybe in a little kitty hyperbolic chamber.

The two of us had been through a lot together. She was my constent through high school, college and beyond. My ornery green eyed lady. At night I would pat on my tummy and she would run into the room and jump onto the bed. Finally, plopping down on my stomach were she would sleep. We would run around my mom's house like a couple of kids playing tag. For years she was my best friend.

It's hard to believe she's gone. I can't say it was sudden but I didn't expect it just yet. Evertime we went to the vet I thought she would live just a little longer, just a few more months.

I can't wait to see her again. I wish I could hold her now but it will have to wait until it's my turn. Then we'll meet with all the others and run across the bridge.

Not so good

So I’m at the vet today. Not surprising really, I need one autumn and one spring visit. The reason this time is that I stopped eating. Mom tried macaroni and cheese, parmesan, chicken, and chicken parmesan! But I just don’t feel good.

The doc says my blood told them it’s my kidney. I’m dehyrated and because of my heart condition they can’t just give me a bunch of fluids in a shot. Instead, I would have to stay at the vet for at least two days and get an IV that would give me fluids…can you believe such a thing. Unfortunately, that’s not going to make me better, just not nauseous for a little while.

After the kidney lady talks to the heart lady they are going to decide what to do. I really don’t think there’s much they can do and I’m pretty tired so I’m going to take a nap. I have mom give you an update later tonight.
