Arrival Story: A neighbor in our former apartment complex has an Egyptian Absynnian named Nila who had kittens. We met the kitties one day (the manager of the complex was taking care of Nila and her litter). We fell in love with Dot. She was the most curious kitten of the litter, an independent spirit who loves people. And she is ADORABLE. How could we resist?

Bio: Dot joined our 18 year old Calico, Maddie, who was none too pleased to have a kitten in the house. She looked at us like we were crazy. Although there was a lot of hissing, she seemed to gradually accept Dot. Maddie passed away when Dottie was nine months old. Sometimes she does things that we think she learned from Maddie, and that makes us smile. She is incredibly sweet and loves to come under the covers and cuddle with us in the morning. We pet her and she drools with pleasure! She and Daphne have to be with us no matter what we do. Dot has the most intelligent and inquisitive face I have ever seen on a cat. She is now a year and ten months old and has grown to be a real beauty. She loves to bring us one of her toy mice every morning--what a good hunter! We are her people and she likes it that way. If we have houseguests for more than a couple days she gets upset and hisses at them, tries to kick them out so she can restore some order to her life.

I have to say that I fell madly in love with Dottie the first time I met her. From the time she was just a few weeks old, she loved human contact and was very verbal. She also let you know that she is an independent spirit and doesn't particularly like to cuddle, but when she does show affection, it is FOR REAL. We communicate on many levels, but I'd have to say our verbal communication is my favorite. I know when she is telling me she wants to go up to a high place (like the top shelf in the closet) and so if she is unable to jump up, I give her a boost. She has such an expressive face, too, and a wisdom in those beautiful green eyes.
I know she has a strong attachment to me as well. When I picked her up at the vet after she was spayed, she immediately cheekmarked me and let me hold her. The vet said "Oh, she's a momma's girl. She wouldn't let your husband near her". Dot is a very sensitive and emotional girl, and she has had some traumatic experiences at the vet because of her sensitivity, so knowing that I brought her comfort was important.
I will always do everything within my power to keep Dottie safe and happy. I want her to live a long and fulfilling life. She is my baby and I love her with all my heart. This is a special Tail of Devotion
