Birthday:
August 30th 2001

Coloration:
Tabby and White

Likes:
I like to snuggle, purr all day long, and sporadically run to my food bowl!

Pet-Peeves:
I really don't like it when the Lady tries to touch my tummy! Grr, I nip her so she knows not to, but she just loves to try! I also don't like it when she leaves me alone for too long.

Favorite Toy:
I love the string the Guy brought me! I also love to chase rolled up pieces of paper. Though recently, the only toy I love is the sparkly feathered string-thingy. I tore it up the first day! Oops. I also love my crinkle ball!

Favorite Nap Spot:
The Lady's bed or the couch. I am finally warming up to the kitty bed, though!

Favorite Food:
Royal Canin Indoor is delish.

Skills:
I can't help but purr and make kitty sounds. I guess it's because I'm so spoiled! I also pose randomly - it's hard not to when you're a natural beauty like me!

Dwells:
indoors

Arrival Story:
My Version: When I saw the Lady and the Guy come into the shelter, I knew they were going to take me home! Just in case, though, I acted super cute so they would fall in love with me. Needless to say, it totally worked. The Lady's Version: My boyfriend and I went into a local shelter and I saw her immediately upon entering. I knew that she was the one when I saw that she couldn't stop rubbing against the bars when I stuck my fingers in her cage.

Bio:
My additonal notes: The Lady and the Guy celebrate my birthday on my adoption date, (August 30, 2005) since we don't know my real birthday. The Lady's additional notes: She came to us with virtually no background information. All we know for certain is that she is 4 years old, lived with someone before they brought her in to the shelter, was previously named "Penny", is up-to-date with routine shots, and is spayed. She was also declawed by whomever owned her previously. UPDATE: It seems that Veruca has some sort of neurological problem that resembles seizures. It only happens once in a blue moon, but they are scary all the same. The vet is unsure what the problem is at the moment. UPDATE (2008): Veruca has been diagnosed with feline hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. She has a low grade murmer and is as active and silly as ever, so we're trying to stay positive that she'll be with us for as long as God intended. Still, it was a hard thing to hear. Keep her in your prayers.

I'm back!!

The Lady made me go to the bad place a few times this month. She called it the "Vet" - I'm not sure if that's who I was mad at, but if it is, they are stinky and I hate them!! I was also mad at the Lady for making me go.

The Lady brought me a whole bunch of new toys to make up for it though!

Dear Veruca,

I'm so glad that I found you by chance that one summer day. Among all the cats I had visited in those hours, you seemed the most special - I'm so glad that I was right! You are goofy and bratty and a real pain sometimes, but when I look at you, my heart bursts with joy and love for you. Some might call you just another furball, but you are my furball for all time.

Love,
Mama (the Lady).

Dear Lady (Mama),

More food please, lady!

Love,
Veruca.

I've been a busy kitty, but I hope you haven't forgotten about me! My life is as good as always... though the Lady made me wear an icky flea collar again! I got used to wearing my pretty plaid one with the pink heart - I'm such a diva! Oh well, the Lady brought me home a new toy - a crinkle ball. I just can't stop chasing it whenever she throws it around!

Anyway, I just wanted to let you all know that I'm alive and purring. :)

Mrover and meowt,

Veruca Sweetheart.
