Duke's Diary
Duke has crossed over The Rainbow BridgeFebruary 28th 2011 1:49 pm[ Leave A Comment | 1 person already has ] We are grieving the loss of our beloved Duke. He was seventeen years old and we loved him so much. He had been staying at the "bunk-house" since the move to NM and loved being out in the country. He would go outside every morning and was ready to go in in the evening. One evening he wasn't waiting on the porch as usual...but I thought that he might be "hanging out" with the barn cats so I didn't worry. The next morning he still hadn't returned so we started a search for him. We never found him, I like to think he just wandered off on one of his many adventures and found his pals waiting at the Rainbow Bridge. We miss him so much and Allie Jane was heart broken at the loss of her friend. So Dear Duke, thank you for many happy times and we think of you so often and miss you every day.
Allie's HomecomingNovember 12th 2005 4:37 pm[ Leave A Comment ] Allie Jane is coming home tonight...my cousin Whisk is excited, but I think it really means less food for all of us...Ok...just kidding! I've kinda missed that little tyke and will be glad to see her little face...she'll have to catch you up on her experience chasing New Mexico lizards!
Duke and the rain!September 12th 2005 6:53 pm[ Leave A Comment ] Meow to all my dear friends! We had a big rain storm last night and I was out side and couldn't get home. Needless to say I was a "drowned rat" (that's what mistress called me). I sure didn't smell too good either! The thunder was so loud, it really scared me. I was so glad mistress wrapped me in a warm towel until I was myself again. Mistress is talking about a trip and taking Allie Jane. Sometimes she (Allie Jane) is a pain, but I think I will miss her if she goes with mistress...and I know that I will miss mistress a lot....maybe she will think about taking me! Have a meow good night!
Monday Wanderings!August 29th 2005 7:13 pm[ Leave A Comment ] Today was a great day...the sun was warm on my fur and the wind was just a little cool. I spent all day outside making sure the other cats were doing what they should. Allie Jane got up late (as usual) and then checked out the yard area. Tiger Renee slept most of the day, she is getting older you know, and Whiskers seemed to enjoy being outside. We are all so glad he is feeling better. My mistress worked out in the yard and I helped by keeping her company. It was a great Texas Day!! Til next time! Meow Bye!!
The Big Storm!August 27th 2005 7:39 pm[ Leave A Comment ] Well, meow to everyone! Let me tell you about my evening last night. We had a very scary storm with rain coming down in sheets (that is how my meow mistress described it) and the wind was blowing me all over the yard. I could hear my meow mistress calling but I was so scared. I had to stay under the "goose-neck" trailer until the stormed passed. Finally, I could see it getting lighter, so I ran for my life to the house. When the storm was over, my family all went outside....well, what a mess! We lost two big limbs on my very favorite climbing tree, there were leaves all over the yard and several birds had been knocked out of the trees. Meow mistress said that I could not take advantage of the cold, wet birds! We also had some trees catch fire when the electric lines touched, so it was really scary then. I was so glad to be with my family. Whiskers James and Allie Jane were both inside when it hit, but Tigger/Old Girl was no where to be found. I tried calling her, but she never would answer. Finally, after several minutes she came. She was wet and scared. We all slept inside for the rest of the night. Til next time meow bye everyone.
Duke and the Turtle!August 23rd 2005 6:07 pm[ Leave A Comment ] Boy, what a day! This silly turtle keeps trying to eat our kitty food! He shows up at breakfast, lunch and dinner just waiting for his share. He even gets right into out kitty food bowl! Can you believe the nerve! My "little mistress", tried to pick him up and he stretched his neck back and almost bit her. I was really mad and fired up then! I tried to get him, but he got his neck in under his shell before I could bite. I bet I will get him next time!!! He better not mess with "the Duke"!! The rest of the day was rather routine after that! My mistress petted and loved on me while we were sitting outside in the cool evening. I love my mistress! Well, it is getting dark and I usually do "yard patrol" about this time. Hope all my great friends have a fun night with lots of great dreams. Until next time! Meow, Meow Bye!!
Do I meow have to be here?August 22nd 2005 7:18 pm[ Leave A Comment ]
Meowllo! I'm Duke. Yes, Whiskers is my cousin - from the city. He and his mistress moved back home when my mistress and master (Whisk's grandmistress and grandmaster) retired. They travel a lot, so she makes sure we (me, my grandmother and my adopted sister) have plenty of food and water. And occasionally, on my time of course, I jump on her lap just to make good our kitty/human relationship.
