Arrival Story:
On a cold December morning last year, my mother's colleagues had set out a humane trap to catch and nurse a three-legged cat (that'd been living behind their hospital for ages) back to health. The next morning, they found a tiny hissing ball of fur in the cage, who had ended up in there by accident. She seemed adorable and beautiful at first, but when the cage was opened, everyone understood that she was extremely sick - she had abscesses all over her body, some of which had ruptured, which made whatever hair she had left covered in pus. The nurses were afraid she'd be too expensive to treat, so they surrounded my mother - and she couldn't say no. That day, she was taken to the vet, who prescribed some antibiotics and said to call him in a week. Truth be told, everyone thought we would simply play hospice for her, and the vet didn't expect her to make it through the next few days... Yet she did! Everything slowly began to heal, her coat began to grow back and now, 10 months later, she's a perfectly healthy, beautiful cat!

Bio:
Antonia wouldn't let anyone approach her for the first six months of her life at our house - she'd hide under lazyboys, behind the fridge, in boxes, closets, anywhere she felt safe, and hiss constantly. Our bonding with her began over mesquite turkey breast - she appeared out of nowhere and slowly approached us, having smelled something delicious, and from there on out, she's been playing with us, "talking" to us and demanding to be scratched. She still hasn't completely gotten over her fear of people, so we have yet to actually pick her up, but she'll sit next to us and allow us to pet her, or she'll walk all over us in our sleep.
