Arrival Story:
I had just recently had a cat of two years escape from my home to never return. I was heartbroken and needed a replacement quick. Low and behold my mothers neighbors, with whom they are very good friends with, had just recently aqquired a cat from there niece who moved here from Florida. He was 13 at the time. I thought perfect. A fat lazy cat who will never leave me. We bounded immediately. Months later while at a club and I meet a girl who had just moved here from Florida. We exchanged e-mails and promised to write during the weeke to say hi. She was new to the area and just trying to make friends. Well the first e-mail i receive from this girl, whom I had only met once, included information that she really shouldnt have known about me. My last name, my mothers name and the name of my cat. Come to find out she was the niece of my mothers neighbor. It was in fact her cat. Crazy small world. I promised to keep her informed on his well being at all times and, ironically we formed and amazing relationship.

After lengthy discussions with the original owner, I came to find out that Belveder was aquired at a punk rock show in Orlando in 1987. Apparently someone was giving out free kittens and soon he was snatched up. He remained in Orlando for quite some time then moved to New York to enjoy the loft life. After a couple years there he returned home to Florida with the original owner. The owner, whom I am friends with now, had recently broke up with her current beau and decided to pack it up and move to Indiana with family. Kind of a starting over thing. The place she moved into did not allow pets, so Belveder went to live with his aunt, my moms neighbor. And thats where I came in. Life was good. Belvedere took to me very well. A year went by and Belveder began to develop a growth on his foot. it would bleed and cause him pain to walk. The doctors believed it was a tumor and could be removed. No testing was done to deermine if it was benine or not. The doctors seemed to agree that it was just a growth and nothing to worry about. Living on student wages I decided to skip the cancer testing and just have the growth removed. 2 months later, the growth had returned. I took him in again, this time choosing to have the growth tested. Results was melignant. I cryed. The choice given to me was to remove the whole leg, which couldnt guarntee me 100 percent that it would remove the cancer. I had to make a choice. Do I take a gamble and spend a 1000 dollars on the surgery (my life savings at this point) or just call it quits. I mean he is 14. I bit the bullet and went for it. I wasnt ready for him to go. Day of surgery. I give my boy a piece of salami, he loves that stuff, and wish him luck. The phone call I receive at work is one I will never forget. The first thing the tech said was.."well, your boys gonna have to learn to walk on three legs, but youll have plenty of time to teach him that. The operation was successful. The cancer had been removed. 4 years later, there is no sign of him slowin down. He has since gone deaf in that time, but his overall health is spectacular. I couldnt have been more happy with my choice to have the surgery. Hes my boy, and weve had plenty of enjoyable times since. Hopefully many more. He is getting old, but at least I know it will be age, and not cancer that will ultimately take him from me. But for now, Long live Belvedere.....or Mister B when were having fancy dinner partys :) *UPDATE* Unfortunately it was cancer that took him from us.. It was bladder cancer.. We really didn't even see it coming.. I woke up this morning (11/4/2006) and there was blood everywhere.. I took him straight to the vet and we found out there was no hope at his age (19).. So we had to let him go.. I know he is happier... I went to heaven today, Nov. 4 2006..

My warm spot in front of the register is now taken!! By a stupid buffet (kinda like a dresser).. Now my bed is next to that.. It isn't as warm, but the warm air blows out from behind it right on me :) I still wish I had my good ol' warm spot... Brr.. I think I will go lay down now.. Bye :)

Lately the house has been getting cold. Mom keeps the temp. on 70 so it isn't that cold, but it sure feels like it. Since I can't jump up onto things after I get down (because of the obvious) Mom bought me a bed so I can cuddle up and keep warm. Now back to the 'cold' part, I've been laying in front of the register duct to keep really really warm :) So just today mom put my bed in front of the register, it is like laying in heaven... Now I'm all warm inside and out..
