My girlfriend wanted a cat but couldn't have one at her apartment. She was trying to decide between a promotion with the company we worked for and a job in another city. I told her that if she stayed, I would get a cat for us that she could visit at my apartment. She agreed, and I let her pick out the cat. However, our boss later changed some of the terms of her pending promotion, and she took the other job. She asked me to let her take the cat with her when she moved, and though I had always been a dog person and had never had another cat, I wouldn't let her. Greta quickly showed me what I had been missing, and I added another cat a year later. My girlfriend and I dated off and on for five more years before we finally got married last year. Now she and Greta finally live together.
