Arrival Story:
My husband and I had talked about adopting a cat for several months. Then I came across the "last chance kitties" section on the shelter's webpage, and we were at the shelter an hour later. A sleepy-eyed orange beauty named Skittles caught my husband's attention. Knowing that I would love any cat, I let my husband choose Skittles, an older "last chance kitty." After filling out the adoption paperwork, it was time to take our new baby home. Since Skittles was so laid back inside the shelter, we made the mistake of putting him in the car sans carrier. He immediately freaked out and drew "first blood" from each of us, establishing himself as Bruce Lee. After 10 minutes of furr flying, we finally made it home in one piece.

When Bruce Lee isn't birdwatching, he enjoys gabbing and hanging out with mom and dad. He isn't much for laps unless he's getting neck scratches and tummy rubs from mom. Bruce Lee barely has time to catch a cat nap when there are bugs to catch and a dad to walk him around the neighborhood.

Bruce is trying to pull his weight around the Potter household, and has entered a photo into the Revolution Calendar Contest. His theory is that adding "Calendar Kitty" to his measly resume would really dazzle the talent scouts.

Visit Revolution's website to vote for Bruce Lee now!

If you vote for Bruce Lee, he promises to not raise taxes nor pee on your tree. He also hates cigars, and will probably never have an intern.

For those of you who are so inclined, you can vote once a day until Oct 11th.

Still not feeling well

Mom and Dad have been extremely worried about me. Today is the fifth day I have had no appetite. I can barely finish off ten morsels of dry food before I'm pushing my bowl away. Mom says I have to go back to Dr. Kourtney tomorrow if I haven't regained more of my appetite. Dr. Kourtney advised Mom that I may have to stay at the hospital overnight for observation. Mom is fretting since her absence from me is what started my illness to begin with. Luckily, Dad is being the voice of reason, and trying to keep us all from worrying too much.

On the bright side, Dad brought home an orange bird toy that is already my new favorite. I've also been getting extra rubs and head scratches. Being sick isn't so bad.

Too sad to write

I've been too sad to write much. Over three weeks ago, mom started putting all of her clothes in a red thing and disappeared. I looked for her in the closet, and under the comforter. I occasionally heard Dad say her name a few times while holding a black thing to his ear, but alas, no Mom.

Then a week later, dad started putting his clothes into a similar red thing. The next day I waited all day for him to return home like he always does, but no dad. Instead Aunt Martha stopped by to my relief. She fed me, and petted me, but didn't offer up any explanation to where my parents were. This went on for over a week, and before long, I began to really worry about Mom and Dad. Was Aunt Martha now my new mommy?

Finally after over two weeks of my MIA parents, I heard Aunt Martha unlock the door, and behind her were Mom and Dad with those red things. I was so happy. Mom and Dad seemed happy to see me too. We rubbed and kissed and cuddled all night. It was so good to have them back.

Although I was overjoyed to see them, something was still very wrong. My tummy hurt A LOT, and all I could do to tell Mom or Dad what was wrong with me was to yowl a lot. Dad thought I wanted my mouse, but Mom started getting worried. After several days of yowling, Mom took me to Dr. Kourtney, who told us that I had Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease with struvite crystals. I had to have several shots, but eventually the pain wasn't so bad. I'm still not feeling well, and I'm a bit mopy, but at least Mom and Dad are back. They've decided to delay my birthday party since I'm not feeling well. I am actually relieved, since there is talk of a mouse pinata, and I do enjoy a good mouse pinata.
