Arrival Story: Odie came into our veterinary hospital when he was 12 yrs old. Not a true feral but had been abandoned at a young age and spent most of his life in a feral colony. He was sickly in his old age and the caretakers of the colony had gotten him a spot at best friends animal sanctuary but he wasn't healthy enough to travel so he was being boarded at the clinic until he was well enough to go. He was skinny, dirty and had the worse diarrhea I've ever seen in a kitty but he was so sweet I couldn't help but spend any free time with him. After a few days I felt bad keeping him caged and brought him up into our front office. I pulled another office chair next to mine and put him there on a blanket. He immediately acted like he had spent his whole life there and began greeting clients then returning to his bed that very first day. He didn't mind the dogs and although neutered at 12 yrs, was great with all cats too. I asked my boss the vet if we could keep him and he spent the next nearly 8 yrs showing everyone that it was the best decision we ever made
Bio: We helped our Odie cross over to the rainbow bridge 4/25/05. He had bone marrow cancer. Him living in a veterinary hospital we have all treatments at hand but he got one of the few things we couldn't do much for. He felt great up until his last day and his passing was gentle and quiet surrounded by the people and things he loved most. This kitty was something very special and I will forever miss him and hope to see him again one day.
