Arrival Story:
She was part of a litter of feral kittens, 2 month olds, rescued from someone’s backyard, during a cold winter in Queens. She hated humans, and had to spend the first few weeks with someone who tried to get her to trust people. When I went to see her, she wouldn’t let me touch her, and hissed at me from her high shelf. It was love at first sight!!!! I brought her home, and she spent the first few weeks in the bathroom. I would get back from work, go in, and sit on the floor for hours. At first, all she would do is play with a cat dancer. As I tried to get her to play closer to me, she would forget to be scared. She’d look at me, arch her back and put her tail into a question mark, and want to be pet! It was too cute! Then, she’d remember that she didn’t like humans, and dance away. I finally gained her trust after many weeks, and she has turned into quite some cat. Not a lap cat by any means, but she definitely loves her human, and ONLY her human!

The organization I got her from had said she was tested for all kitty diseases, and was negative on all counts. She was due for one last shot after I got her home, and someone came over from the organization to give it to her. We got talking about how she was found, and her mother, and I learned that her mom was FIV+, and that all 4 of her kittens tested negative. I brought her over to my local vet, and had them run a FIV test, and found out that she was in fact FIV+. I was crushed!! Even though I had only had her for a few weeks, and she still hadn’t bonded with me yet, I could NEVER have parted with her. I knew when I took her that it was a lifetime commitment. I’m very happy that she has not shown any sign of sickness, and hopefully will live a long life. And I love the fact that Catster lets her have kitty pals, since she can’t have any for fear of transmitting FIV to another cat. Thanks Catster!!!

i just found this. they recalled her food, my $26 six pound bag of royal canin, vet perscribed dry cat food.
they recalled it one day after i had to put her down.
please look at this, and make sure your food isn't on the list..... i wouldn't want any one else to go thru what i have. ecall

it's been one week since i had to put pea down, and i miss her.
i miss feeling her stretch next to me on the bed.
i miss her unconditional love.
i miss her freckled nose, and that spot on her gum line that make it look like she had a missing tooth.
i miss her pawing around her water bowl before she would settle down for a drink.
i miss her greeting me at the door when i come home, trying to tell me how her day went. i never did learn 'cat-ese'
i miss the sight of her trying to cover her food after she was done eating it.
i miss her chasing kibble when one would drop on the floor.
i miss the seeing of her on top of the radiators, absorbing the left over heat.
i miss the photo opportunities. she always knew how to strike a pose.
i miss hanging out and watching t.v.
i miss her looking at me from the window when i went into the backyard.
i miss the feel of her fur.
i miss her sunbathing.
i miss her rubbing her face wherever she could.
i miss my brave bug catcher.
i miss the sight of the tip of her ears before she would hop up onto the bed for the evening.
i miss her chasing rainbows the toy prism would cast on a sunny day.
i miss her companionship.
i miss her exploring the shower after i used it.
i miss watching all the cat yoga poses.
i miss her whiskers.
i miss the sight of her flopping down on the floor at my feet.
i miss the sound of her voice.
i miss giving her belly scratches.
i miss getting ready to go to work, and having her crowd me at the sink for attention.
i miss her dancing and singing for her dinner when i came home from work.
she would have loved yesterday. i opened the windows for the first time for spring. the back window was drenched in sun and a fresh breeze. but she wasn't there to enjoy it.
the apartment is empty without you pea.
