Hello, World!

What a Christmas party!!

Our human bean goes to see her human bean family during the Christmas holidays and always leaves her fur family home alone (with plenty of food and water) for a few days. This year (mine and Zoe's first Christmas) she left early Friday morning and she got back about 8 p.m. Christmas night...and boy we didn't expect her that quick or we might have had time to clean up some of the mess from our wild party!

The kitchen cabinets (upper and lower) were all open and lots of stuff was drug out into the floor. LOTS of stuff. Several garbage cans were turned over and played in. The linen closet had been opened (top section -- I'm good) and the clean sheets pulled down to be slept on.

I opened the door of mom's closet and we climbed her clothes and pulled lots of them down as well. They made a fine bed. We had such a wonderful time entertaining ourselves!! Even Lily got into the action and knocked over a big crystal lamp. Luckily, it didn't break, but it sure made a lot of noise when it hit the floor!!

A delightful Christmas was had by all -- except mom when she got home and had to clean up all the messes we'd made. I don't think she minded very much, 'cause she hardly even fussed at us. She was probably expecting it.

Happy Mew Year to all our kitty friends!!

Living up to my magical name

Well, my mom was very impressed by my magical abilities a few days ago. It actually took her a minute to decide that it was all a clever illusion, and not REAL magic. Not supposed to let Muggles see us do REAL magic, you know ;) Not saying if it was or wasn't 'cause I don't want to get into trouble with the Ministry of Magic.

Our den, where mom spends most of her time, used to be a patio. When mom's sister and her husband closed it in many years ago, they didn't take down the sliding glass doors, intending to do that later. Of course, it never got done, but mom has found them convenient when she needs to do something out there (like eat in peace) and doesn't want to be swarmed by us cats.

Since it used to be an outside wall, the window to the half bath is also still there, and mom always leaves it open as a secondary escape route from the den to the rest of the house. Hence lies the "magic"...

Every time she tries to get Sauda inside, me and Raven try to get *outside* so mom puts us on the other side of those big sliding glass doors so she doesn't have to worry about us while she's trying to coax Little Evil into the house. She did this one night last week. You can imagine her shock and surprise when she looked down to find me brushing against her leg, trying to get my nose into the partially closed screen door. I've never REALLY tried to go outside, but she's afraid I might, and since I've been an indoor only cat since she took me from my catmom's side, she's afraid I might get lost.

Anyway! She looked around, and Raven was still sitting on the other side of the glass doors, meowing to be let back in. "Can you walk through glass, Sirius? What pocket do you keep your wand in?" she asked me as she picked me up...then she realized, "O! He went around and came in through the open bathroom window!" She was relieved to have an explanation...

But *did* I really...or can I walk through glass? I'll never tell....

This is a note I hope my mom reads!!!!! It's time to put at least one or two of my newer pictures in this spot! She's taken some, so why won't she find time to post them? I'm so embarrassed by my baby pictures out here for everybody to see. It wouldn't be so bad if there were also pix of me as a sleek, most grown, handsome and elegant teenager!! I've grown into my ears, and I'm so much more masculine now that I'm older.

I'm going to really stay on her this weekend. Maybe I can convince her to put up some new shots. I'll keep my toes crossed -- and since I'm polydactyl, I've got LOTS of toes to cross!!

Fun with houseplants...

Boy, me and Zoe had a big time yesterday! We made such a fun surprise for our mom. She brought in a plant for the winter and left it sitting on the kitchen counter. She calls it an "aloe" plant. Me and Zoe got bored not long after she went to work, so we started investigating this new thing in our domain.

Guess what? It had DIRT in it! Yep, real "come from the yard" dirt! It smelled nice, and after we dug most of it out of that pot-thingy it was in, it was SO fun to roll around in. We left some on the counter, and knocked a bunch down on the floor so the other cats could share, too, if they wanted to -- but they didn't seem to be very interested.

You should have *seen* mom's face when she came home and saw our surprise! Her eyes got real wide, and her mouth dropped open, and all she could say was "Oh my GOD!" Isn't that awesome?? She was so happy, she was nearly speechless.

She cleaned it up, though. I'm not sure why. I guess she didn't feel like rolling around in it. We tried to help, but she kept putting us down. I guess she was having so much fun she didn't want to share. That was okay -- we'd already had a lot of fun she didn't get to join in, so we just let her wipe and sweep by herself.

What fun, huh?? She took the plant away. I hope she'll bring it back again someday so we can do it again.

My very wet experience...

Oh, my! I had a *terrible* experience the other night! See, our mom keeps a plastic tub in the bathtub and keeps it filled with water so we always have plenty to drink. Well, Sunday night, she had run the tub full of hot water, so she could take a bath (why do human beans DO that??) and I didn't realize it, so I just hopped over into the tub (just as my mom walked back into the bathroom, so she saw it) -- the water was HOT! I was so shocked I just stood there for a few seconds, wondering what the heck was going on!! Mom was laughing (how rude!) and finally, realizing I was in shock, she reached down to help me out, but just about that time I sprouted springs on the bottoms of my feet and I BOUNDED out, soaking wet and very, very unhappy! Mom chased me down with a towel and dried me off. I was shaking. I didn't like being dried off any better than I liked getting wet!

It was a terrible, terrible thing to have happen to an innocent little cat!! I've made mom promise that from now on if she runs a bathtub full of water, she must close the door so that never, never happens to me again!!!

Who the heck is Harry Potter??

I don't know any human beans named Harry Potter, but people keep telling me I'm named for his "godfather" (whatever that is), whose name is also Sirius Black. Mom says it's not a real bean...it's from a book. I can't read books, so I guess I'll never really know. Maybe my mom will take me to this Sirius Black's website and show me what he looks like! If I'm named after him, he must be dashing and smart!

Zoe, my sis, just finished writing HER first diary entry, and she left out the best part about us. We're what beans call "polydactyl" -- that means we got extra toeses... According to mom, "normal" cats have five claws on each front foot and four on the back. Wait. Or is it four on front and five on back? It's *gotta* be four on back, 'cause *I* have five on each back paw, and mom says that's special. On the front, I have six claws on one paw and seven on the other! Just think of all the mischief I'll be able to get into as I get older! I'm already pretty darned good at climbing mommy when she's at the kitchen counter. For some reason, though, she doesn't like for me to do that. Sometimes she screams.

The bean who called our mom to tell about needing homes for us said we were "deformed" cause our paws had too many toes and claws. Mom says HE'S just a dumb old redneck, 'cause we're not deformed, we're SPECIAL!

I love my mom. She gives us treats and good food and she holds us in her lap when she's reading or watching the fellytision and she lets us sleep as close as we want at night in her big soft bed. Sometimes I wake her up in the wee dark hours of the night, but she never scolds me...she just smiles and cuddles me and loves me and strokes me until we both fall back asleep.

Hello to my new friends on Catster, too! I hope to make lots more.

Bye for now!
