My friend Mercy

Yesterday the Catster world got a little smaller and a little cloudier when one of its brightest stars passed over to the Rainbow Bridge. Mercy, or Miss Mercy as I liked to call her, left us way too soon. To say I will miss her is an understatement.

When I joined Catster, way back in 2005 when I was just a kitten, the first cat who befriended my family was Mercy. Over the years, we have gotten close and our moms have even gotten to know each other well. Her page was always the first one I checked when I visited Catster. Mercy's photos and diary entries never failed to put a smile on my face. You never knew what outfit she would be wearing or what position she would be twisted into in her photos. She always looked like she was having a blast.

Mercy was friends with just about every cat on Catster, but she had a way of making each cat feel like they were her best friend. I know I'm not the only one who will miss that sweet little face.

To her Mom and Dad ... thank you for sharing your special little girl with all of us. I hope you both find peace and comfort in your memories and all those wonderful photos of Mercy.

Goodbye, Miss Mercy. Mom and I will never forget you, sweet girl.

A new year

I haven't written in my diary in awhile, but since it's a new year, I decided I needed a new entry.

Hope everyone had a good Christmas-whateveryoucelebrate and a happy New Year. Mom was home for a whole week after Christmas, so that was great. I wish she was here with us all the time, but she has to work and keep Fancy Feast in the kitchen.

It's really cold where I live in Tennessee. We even had a dusting of snow last night. I had to run out on the porch and check it out for my self, but I didn't stay long. It's too cold for me!

The New Year is starting off a little sad. A sweet little blind kitty was going to be rescued from a shelter in Georgia and go to live in Minnesota, but Eve was too sick and had to journey instead to the Bridge. She had some wonderful cat moms trying to help her though, and even more purring for her to make it. Catster sure is one big loving group.

I also want to send out special purrs to my buddy Gleek who has been having nasty seizures again the last day or so. I'm purring really hard for ya Gleek and hope the vet can get you back on the right track.

Hope everyone stays warm and cozy!

Peace
Daisy

That time of year

April is a big deal at my house. Spring is officially here, the dogwoods start blooming, Mom has to do her taxes and I have a birthday! Woohooo!!

Mom has promised to make me some bacon on Monday for my 4th birthday. I'm hoping she will buy some Lucky Charms cereal too and throw in a few marshmellows for me. Those are my two favorite things to eat. Well, tuna is up there too. Maybe I'll get some of that too!

A tribute

Catster lost one of it's biggest stars and sweetest voices this week: Scooter.

Scooter, or Scoodle as I liked to call her, was a good friend to nearly every cat who is active on Catster. Every cat who knew her loved her. Scoodle's diaries always made me smile, even when she was having a bad day. Scoodle was always ready to help a cat figure out the computer stuff ... how to post a certain song, how to get something just right on your page ... whatever you needed, Scoodle was there to help.

My favorite thing she ever posted was her voice. I love it. I still get excited whenever I hear it. I rub against the computer speakers and look for her, because she sounds like she's right there in my room!

I will miss you, Scoodlebug. You were one in a million, sweet girl.

From Daisy's Mom:

I was fortunate enough to meet Scooter in person and celebrate her 20th birthday with her, her parents and Coco/Mouse/Ray's Mom. We had a blast, even though Scooter wasn't too sure about this strange woman staying in her house. She put up with me and even let me kiss her once and pet her a few times.

Even at 20, she was regal, poised and gorgeous. I took some photos of her while I was there, and I will post one of them on Daisy's page as our tribute to a sweet kitty and her loving, generous Mom who gave her a voice and shared her with all of us here on Catster.

We all know that our kitties don't really talk, but as their parents, we do know their personalities. Being able to capture their quirks and traits and transfer them to words is not an easy task, but Scooter's Mom captured Scootie's personality perfectly. We also transfer a part of ourselves to our kitties. And Scooter's Mom was no different in that. Her kindness and generosity shined through Scooter. Please keep her and Scooter's Dad in your thoughts.

Winter blues and pinks

Mom made me a new page for winter today. We're ready for a new year! I'm hopeful that 2009 is better than 2008 was.

It's wintertime, but we had summer weather here today. It was sunny and about 70 degrees! But I still slept all day.

There's a picture on my page of the cool toy we got for Christmas. It's called a Fling-a-ma-String. I really want to play with it, but Ollie keeps hogging it. I told Mom she needs to buy a second one so the girls can play with it!

Ready for fall

I have a new page today. I know it's still technically summer, but it's September, and I'm ready for fall weather! It may be 85 degrees outside, but looking at my page makes me feel like it's 65!

I am hoping all the people and pets in the path of Hurricane Gustav got to safe ground and that their lives are not too disrupted by the storm. Stay safe.

I was busy all weekend and didn't get to visit Catster. I get on today and it's Febreze Central! MOL! Thanks to all my Catster pals for the Febreze collars! My page is the cleanest and nicest smelling it's ever been. Shoot ... all of Catster smells purrty good now! And with all these kitties, we probably needed a shot of Febreze! MOL!

On another note, we got one of our foster kitties adopted Saturday. She was a Siamese that Mom named Jasmine. Mercy's Mom actually suggested the name. Mom got an e-mail from Jasmine's new owners this morning and she is doing great. So we're doing the happy dance around my house today. We still have 5 kittens and 2 cats who need homes, but fall will be here soon, so that will help. Mom says cat and kitten adoptions slow way down in the summer. She says once the weather cools off, they pick back up.

Speaking of ... it is so humid here today! I was on the porch for a little bit, but it's even too hot and humid for us kitties! Mom went out for about 3-5 minutes and came back in and her shirt was wet!! That's how humid it is here! Whew. We're ready for fall!!

What is that?!

Mom was cleaning the kitchen sink this morning and noticed something on the counter by the sink. It looked like a weird hair, she thought. Then it hit her ... 'It's a whisker!'

It's funny because we were reading Arnie P.'s diary about his whiskers the other day. I asked her if she had ever found any of my whiskers, and she said in the 3+ years I've lived with her, she had never found or seen one of my shedded whiskers.

Then this morning ... voila! She yelled at me, 'I found one of your whiskers, Daisy!' But we don't think we will keep them like Arn's Mom does. Mom says she has enough stuff laying around the house already! MOL!

It's my sisters' birthday today. Sugar and Spicey are 3 years old! Woohooo! But I'm still the oldest! hehehe

Guess what? Today is my THIRD anniversary on Catster! Wow! Three years! I can't believe it's been that long! Time flies when you're having fun, I guess! I was only 3 months old when I joined Catster.

Which brings me to our newest family member. My newest little brother, ABNER
, is joining Catster today. He's about the same age I was when I joined. His birthday is about 10 days after mine.

The circle keeps going and going!
