Being carried around in a large paper bag; playing crazy-cat-with-puffy-tail
Lack of attention, pesky bugs that can't be caught
The rubber washer from an old blender; Da Bird cat teaser; fur mice
Favorite Nap Spot:
By the window
Science Diet Liver and Chicken, canned and dry (no interest in other foods or treats, except for grass).
Playing fetch (with a passion), talking, meowing (the same meow) for several seconds, the folding kitty trick (see picture)
We found Friedolin by the Huron River, next to a bridge, when we were taking an afternoon walk on Labor Day 2004. He was sitting next to a pile of branches, with his feet together, shaking. He wouldn't let us come near him, so we went around to a corner store and bought a can of cat food, which he couldn't resist. We picked him up after he'd wolfed down the entire can and took him home, thinking we'd find a place for him (our lease didn't allow cats, and I have allergies). The vet said that he was four months old, ear-mite and flea-ridden, and that he had worms. After we had nursed him to health, we knew we couldn't give him away. So we managed to talk the landlord into allowing him, and fortunately, my allergy seems to have mellowed somehow. Now he's part of the family, and most importantly, he inspired me to go to vet school.
Update: Friedolin is a globetrotter! We moved to Germany and brought him along. He was very stoic about the transition and now loves his new apartment. He has two pet birds--a couple of magpies that has a nest right outside the kitchen window. And he still plays fetch as an almost 2-year-old.
And here's why Friedolin is still listed as part Ragamuffin:
"A RagaMuffin's personality is one of extreme sweetness, with traits of those similar to an endearing lap dog. Each one of these cats thrives on attention and it is not unusual for any one of them to greet you at the door, follow you from room-to-room and become your faithful companion. They make wonderful family pets, with so much affection to give everyone in the family, including your other pets." (from: Cat Fancier's Association's Website)
