Arrival Story:
Tallulla-Bell came to us one night running for the car in the rain. I heard this plaintiff little mewwwww from behind the car next to the dumpster. Being a cat lover I stopped to take a look. This adorable kitten came out of the tall grass and rubbed against my leg. After a small scritch on the ears I could tell she was shivering. ********************************** ************************** My husband being the practical one tried to stop me before I lifted her up. But he wasn't fast enough and I scooped her little body up in my arms where she immediately snuggled close for warmth and began to purr. I stood there in the rain while I "decided "what to do. My husband got into the car and lit a cigarette turned on the radio and told me It was my choice but from his tone I knew what "choice" he wanted me to make. ********************************** ************************** I brought her home that night. But I promised on the way home I would find out if she had gotten loose from a home in the neighborhood. If no one clamed her I would find her another home. I would not destroy the nice calm social mix we had in the house with another cat. I meant it. I promised not to give her a name. (and I name my cars) I would not become too attached. ********************************** ************************** From the drivers seat I heard "ahhuhh" ********************************** ************************** It turned out the little one was very sick. The shivering continued even when we got her dry and warm. Her appetite was good so there were no worries there, but she had a strange liquid oozing from her anus and the worst diarea I have ever seen in a cat. We took her to the vet fearing I had exposed my kitties to some horrible disease. ********************************** ************************** There they gave her medicine, and a prescription food. The vet asked for her name. I told him of my promise, and asked if I could leave a picture and some contact information on his bulletin board. He said yes and I posted her picture with my number. I left for the car and my hubby stayed behind to pay the bill. ********************************** ************************** We isolated her in the bedroom with us and for an entire week she slept on my husbands side of the bed only moving to find the litter box or food. The medicine which we were told was awful tasting she took without much fuss but it took both of us to medicate her. By the end of the week she would purr when she saw the dropper coming. ********************************** ************************** I believe she knew it made her feel better, and I know she knew there was lots of petting prasing and dinner to be had afterwards. ********************************** ************************** My husband turned to me on her 7th the night in the house and said we need a name for her. We can't keep calling her "The Shitten". She's beginning to answer to it. I reminded him of my promises. I have never broken a promise to my husband and I have no intention of ever breaking one. ********************************** ************************** He sighed and said "she's our cat. We can't nurse her back to health and then give her away. She trusts us. Besides no one has responded to any of the fliers. She needs a name." Are you sure ? I asked. At that he produced the card I left on the vets bulletin board. God/des I love that man!!!! ********************************** ************************** I named her Tallulah-Bell
