Arrival Story:
I was a little girl when I saw the most beautiful kitten in the world in a department store pet department. My parents had been considering getting me a dog, and I begged and begged them to let me get this kitten instead, right then. They agreed, with the caveat that she stay at the store until we were ready to go home (we were spending a week with my grandparents at the time, and they weren't set up for cats.) The salesperson affixed a little "sold" notice to the kitten pen, which the beautiful kitten promptly attacked and knocked to the floor. Looking back, this was probably a statement of sorts. Of course, she only stayed there for an extra day. I couldn't stay away. I used to daydream about talking my parents into letting me get a kitten and carrying her home on my lap in the car. It finally happened. The only difference was I used to daydream about a grey tiger kitty. Then she threw up on me. It was the start of a beautiful friendship, one that didn't last nearly long enough. I still miss her more than I can say.
