opening doors and sneaking out un-detected despite my jingly collar

Arrival Story:
My owner got a call from a friend about a friendly little kitten (me!) who kept frequenting his backdoor begging for ham slices. Some overly rowdy party-goers were announcing plans to "have fun" with the kitten when he called for my (now) owner to rescue the poor kitten from the party. A week later, those same rowdy partiers were responsible for breaking another stray cat's back after slinging him against a tree. My owner's friend had to put the cat out of its howling misery. *tear* At least they were able to save one life...

I began packing on the pounds after other kitties came to live with us. I eat as much as I can, whenever I can. Whenever I manage to sneak out and explore the great outdoors, I wind up developing ulcers behind my eye, which means I have to put up with hidden medicines in my food and topical ointments on my eye. It's rough, but I can't seem to get enough of that fresh air and green grass! I was originally going to be called "The General" as in "General Tsao's Chicken", but people objected, saying it would seal my fate as future Chinese food. So my mom compromised with an even sillier name, but I think it suits me fine as I hardly meow louder than a squeak anyway. =^.^=

Mom brought home a new addition to the household yesterday: Luna. She's kind of stuffy, so my parents call her Princess. She's real pretty, though. And I think she likes me best. She'll let me get close and sniff her and even give a little lick when, instead, she hisses at Blink and Mera. Sha hasn't ever seen a dog before, so she keeps puffing up and growling at Mera, but I think Mera's more afraid of her than anything. I have to give the new girl credit, though. She's not afraid to run out and see the new people and new house, even if she runs back to hide under Mom's bed if she feels threatened. I like her. More than I thought I would, honestly. And I think it's funny how Blink has his fur in knots over her just because she's new. He'll hiss at her, but if she steps even a little bit closer, he'll run away faster than you could say "Tuna!" He's such a coward. Hopefully she'll settle in fine because she doesn't seem too excitable, and with her on my side I can probably get Blink to stop bothering me all the time. =^.^=

Our house is a very very very fine house

Mom told me I might be getting a little sister. I don't know how I feel about this. Blink is cool enough, but, you know... He's younger than I am, so he tends to get away with a lot of stuff which isn't fair and, well... he's just got soo much energy! He's calming down now that he's getting older and I've been teaching him how to be chill and all, but still. Sometimes he wants to play with me and I just want to rest. He can be so annoying. Having a little sister, I can't imagine how much attention she'd want from me. She'd be mom's little Princess and.. what would I be? Exhausted trying to keep up, I bet. And Blink can be so neurotic, he might not like her at all. Otherwise, they might gang up on me! I've put on a few pounds since I was their age and I can't keep up with all that energy. We'll see what happens. She might have already been adopted, for all I know (I can hope, at least). With Mom's new job caring for the animals at the pet store, I'm sure there will be lots more critters coming home. I suppose I should be used to it by now. The lure of the mice and guinea pig and rat and fish that she already has is definitely worn off by now. But another cat?! The next thing you know, there will be a big sloppy puppy in the house taking all my good sleep spaces and pestering me even worse than Blink. I can't even begin to imagine.

The Cat days of summer

I got my first real brushing of the season today. And boy was it needed! Fur balls were rolling off me like tumbleweed on a dusty road! Mom was concerned about hairballs, since I've been coughing a little recently. I think I just have allergies. But the brushing gave me a chance to get out of that harness for a little bit. For the most part, I don't mind it too much, but on muggy hot days like it's been all week... it's soo much cooler to lounge around without all that get-up on. Mom's afraid I'll sneak out again and someone might steal me without my tags since I'm such the charmer, but I had a good romp last night with Blink (shh... don't tell Mom, I don't think she knows =^.^=) so I'm happy with just relaxing on the cool bathroom tiles today.

Blink's disappeared. He's not meowing up a storm like usual and I can't find him under the bed. If he's outside having fun without me, I'm going to be annoyed. Just because he's afraid to wander too far from Mom, he's allowed to go outside (unlike me because I like to romp and sniff all the new things). I don't think that's very fair.

Mom put some ice cubes in our water, which was nice. But they squeaked and popped at first, which kind of startled me. But the cool water was so much tastier once the ice melted. I also had a nice long belly-rub today. All in all, it's been a good day.

I guess I'll go hide under the bed right now. It's a lot cooler under there.
