Arrival Story:
When Mom lived at her old apartment there were several feral cats prowling the neighborhood. One she especially loved whom she called Scaredy, was very timid but learned to trust her. Well Scaredy had a litter of kittens but they were all too scared to be around humans. So the second litter came around and Mom's then landlord & landlady decided to get them used to humans. They fed them and had their kids hold the kittens regularly. Mom told them that she'd want one. Meanwhile She moved out but 4 weeks later she got her 6 week old kitten. I had 4 brothers and a sister, and one of my biological brother's (he's an orange tabby mix) lives across the street at my human Grandma's house. I'm very active and love to play and get into anything that I know I am not supposed to get into (pancake mix, the pantry, you name it!) My pet parents are supportive of me regardless and love me unconditionally no matter how many times a day I get myself into trouble.

Bio:
I am a gray tabby mix with white markings on my nose and paws. I like meowing at Mom and Dad's feet trying to get them to figure out what I want. I also love crawling up Mom's pant legs or better yet crawling up her back when she's paying attention to someone or something else. I love attention and it has to be all about me. According to the vet I have an "attitude problem" because I growl sometimes, but she's says it's part of what makes me cute. Mom has to agree. I love being cuddly when play time isn't on my mind. It's been so long since I wrote an entry. It's about time for another one, we're long overdue.

Something really scary happened a few months back. I ate an ear plug and it got stuck in my small intestine. I had exploratory surgery and had it removed at the lovely price of $825.00! It was a lot for Mom to handle as she had a lot of bills to pay already with a baby on the way and a higher risk pregnancy due to Marphan Syndrome. The vet initially wanted over a grand but Mom got them to come down to $825.00. That's as low as they said they would go and Mom didn't want me to die and she didn't want to give up custody of me either. I'm a pretty lucky kitty. Recovery went fairly well. I hate taking meds so Mom was hiding my meds in tuna fish. I had 2 weeks worth of pain meds and antibiotics. By the end of two weeks it was getting harder and harder for me to stomach the tuna, I was quite sick of it. I'm doing well now only a scar remains. My fur is growing back in but is still much chorter than the rest. My Mom misses my fluffy white fur it was so soft. Meanwhile, we're making monthly payments on the vet balance. We still owe about $300.00 to the vet.

One thing that really upset Mom was all the people who felt she should have had me put to sleep. She feels the accident was just as much her fault as it was mine because it was no secret that I loved to eat ear plugs yet she still wasn't careful enough to put them away. I had eaten them many times before, they just never got stuck, Mom always knew it was a possibility and tried to be careful but sometimes left them out after waking up. Now she's being way more careful and also, sadly for me I am no longer allowed in her bedroom. I really miss it but Mom's just worried that if she left them out again this could happen again. Another thing that was upsetting was all the dog owners that made it clear they felt a cat's life was worth less than a dog's. One lady felt Mom should just let me die and get another cat to replace me as she sat at the vet's with her white toy poodle. I think her stupid poodle is replacable, myself. No, I really don't all animals are precious, but that lady is a beast.

I've really been into the Christmas spirit this year. This is the first year we have a full sized tree. We always do artificial trees, and Mom got a pre-lit 7 foot one at the end of Christmas sale last year for 50% off. I absolutely love to lay under it. I like the fluffy tree skirt, she also got that at the end of chritmas sales. Mom finds it funny that whenver she has bought me beds and things meant for cats to lay on, I could care less but I love to lay on or in things like christmas tree skirts, empty grocery/trash bags, packaging materials, and boxes that are not meant to be kitty beds. Speaking of things not meant for me. This year has been really bad for tracking in leaves. Mom has to be careful as I LOVE to eat them. After the earplug thing she's really on me more than ever about eating random things off the floor.

To knock over a Christms tree, or not?

Yesterday I got in big trouble when Mom got home she saw I knocked over her tabletop Christmas tree! The ornaments were everywhere and the limbs were in total disarray. I got quite the scolding and I was really upset that she seemed so disappointed in me! Today I was such a good kitty I wanted to play with the tree again and maybe I did a little in secrecy, but I was very careful not to knock it over. When Mom got home today she gave me praises and kitty treats for being so well behaved! It felt good that my efforts were acknowledged. So what will I do tomorrow? We shall see.

I used to sign off like I was writing a letter but I haven't done that lately! For old times sake........

Wishing you a great holiday season,

New Home!

Well Mom, Dad, and myself moved into our new home (new to us but it's about 12 y/o) about a month ago but we just now got internet back. Don't get me started on the internet issues, ugh! That's neither here nor there... I've had fun adjusting to a new place and I love running and sliding on the pergo floors in the kitchen/dining area. Mom uploaded a picture she took of me when I was 'helping' her pack about a month ago during the move. Mom's happy I adjust so well when we move. I'm young, though, and this is the 3rd time we've moved. In each new place I've found new favorite hide outs. Here I haven't really found a hide out but like I said I love running and sliding on the floors, I'm silly like that!

Hopefully it's the last time we move, at least for a long while!
