Arrival Story: Mum picked her up from a cat shelter. I was three when we got her, so I don't remember much. But, I do remember mum and us three kids huddled in a circle around this kitten as we thought up a name for her. Our last name starts with T, so mum thought "Miss T"... spelt Misti.

Bio: My first pet. She followed my brother and sister to primary school once. After that she would always stop at the boundary of the 2nd house down from ours and throw her voice a couple of blocks until we turned a corner heading to school. She was very sensitive to human feelings... the most empathetic cat I've known. Always there for a cuddle when you were crying. Misit suffered several ailments for many months before her end. We had her on several medications, but after some neighbours thought she was a starving stray we took her to the vet again. She said there wasn't much more we could do, and that we could have Misti for a little longer, or end her suffering now. I was working up at the SPCA when this news was passed on to me. I took her home for the day, sat with her, and watched her. I could see that now and then she closed her eyes as her aging body hurt. I made the decision to end it for her. That night mum and I took her to the vet. Misti purred for all the attention. Even as her from leg was shaved... even as the needle went in... purr purr. Misti died a happy girl, with those she loved around her. We buried her in a large shoe box with a rose that matched the colour of her nose attached on top. She now rests under a rose bush called Peace. (Nov 1982 - 17 Feb 2000)
