Arrival Story:
I was a volunteer at a shelter in college, washing dogs for open house. I was taking a break when a heard a lot of meowing and cage rattling. I found Frankie climbing his cage. He was less than a month old- his eyes were still blue- I absolutely had to take him home. When I held him I noticed his ears were covered in fleas. His sister was in the back of the cage, quite freaked out by the kitten that thought it was a monkey!

Frankie and were together for almost 15 years. He passed away yesterday evening on July 28th, 2009. He had been a champion though stomach cancer, but within a few months he dropped from 21lbs down to 7, and we knew that we needed to give him his final peace. He has friends all over the country that are mourning his loss with me. He will be greatly missed. I kept his history page below to remember the best days with him... Frankie is my best friend. To re, there are two kinds of people in this world, "the momma, and not the momma." We have made a lot of moves together. He was a baby when he came home to meet Lydia, who was just turning a year old. He was 6 when James moved in, and now that Veronica the dog is here, he's not too sure what to think. I think re has gotten used to sharing our bed with jim, although he still punces on him and sneezes on him to get closer to me. Re is avery sick kitty now. We went through a lot of tests at the vet, and all has been ruled out, except cancer. He is loosing all of the hair on his tail and his underarms and stomache. He has good days and really bad days :( but we all do what we can to keep him comfortable, and to listen to what he needs. He still enjoys sitting in the window, watching birds and squirrels. Re (and I) also enjoy spending time in the warm bathroom while I take bubble baths- sometimes he reaches in and paws at the bubbles. Re is afraid of bugs, just like me! He also likes to wear shiny medallions and beads draped loosely around his neck- and where ever there is a camera, there is Frankie, ready for his big close-up!
