Arrival Story:
Update: Khephra, along with his siblings Isis and Osiris, were three of my foster kittens. I had all three for over six weeks and was worried that none would find homes-although I knew I would keep Khephra if no one wanted him-he has such an incredible personality! Laid back, loving, and fun. All the employees at Pookie's Bow Wow bakery in Winter Park adored him. When I would come to pick him up at the end of the day, I'd usually find him draped over a cashier's arm as they stocked shelves, or being carried like a baby as they rang up customers. He's squint lovingly at us at us and just keep purring away. His brother and sister found a home together with a great family-then Kheph found a home of his own! He was to be the very first pet of a teenager and her family. They turned out to be the kind of adoptive "parents" a rescuer always dreams of; loving, caring, and health concious.:-) Khephra was named after a friend, Scott, who used the ancient Egyptian name as his username online ("Khephra" was given by Egyptians to their children as a name to bring them extra luck in life). Scott was known by many online as the gentlest of souls; he never argued with anyone, and worked diligently to make the world a better place. He died suddenly in January of 2005 of an anurism at the age of 34. When I brought the kitten Khephra home, it wasn't long before his gentle spirit brought Scott to mind, so I named him after him in his honor. I think Scott was watching over him when he brought Khephra's new family to Orlando.
