Hi everyone, this is Marvin's mom Marisa. I'm sorry to report that Marvin passed away this morning about 9:20 of kidney failure. He passed peacefully at home with myself and my husband. We pet him, sang to him, told him how much we loved him and how much joy he had brought to our lives. We're going to bury him in our backyard among the blueberry bushes.
He really enjoyed being Cat of the Day a few months ago! I'm sorry we didn't get to interact with the Catster community as much as we would have liked, but we'll make sure our other two cats, Spalding and Delbert, get to know you all better.
Please cherish every day with your cats. Love to all of you.

Wow, it's been a LONG time since I posted! Sorry about that. I'm doing pretty well, in spite of some more changes around here....
Remember Spalding, the little gray butt-in-ski I wrote about last time who started hanging around the house like she lived here or something? Well - she DOES live here now. She's become an official part of the family. She's a lot bigger than she was a year and a half ago (but still has those short stubby legs), and Mom says she's due for The Procedure any day now. She's been sleeping with Mom and Dad almost every night this winter; Little Miss Cuddly-Face, bleeaaahh!! I guess it's OK - she's really not as bad to have around as I had thought. However - she didn't come alone!!!
There are now THREE CATS in this house! Spalding seemed to come as a set with this stripey doofus Mom and Dad have named Delbert. He is definitely on the short bus! And man - I thought *I* was a big eater! This guy shovels food into his face like they're going to take it away from him. And when he's done with his, he moves on to Spalding's and MINE!!! Dang it - I hate that!! Well, as long as I've had my pill (Mom and Dad put it in a Friskies Treat buried in my food), and I don't feel like eating the rest of my food, I GUESS he can have it. But he's become just plain FAT now. We've all been tucking away the groceries now that winter's here, but man oh man - this guy weighs a ton. And he's dumber than a bag of hammers. He knows how to use the cat door to go out, but he can't seem to figure out how to get back in! Oh, well. Mom and Dad like him, so I guess I can put up with it. But that doesn't mean I like it!!!
Anyway, Spalding has a page here now, and Mom says she's going to get Delbert his own page too. I suppose.... ::grumble grumble grouse::
I'm still on the thyroid meds and feeling OK. Looks like I won't have to go through any surgery, thank Bastet! The winter weather makes me sleepy, though - don't do much else besides sleep these days.
Anyway, that's about all that's going on these days. I'll try to write more often, I promise!!

Obviously I've got some new pictures up! Mom and Dad dragged me across town to a photographer's studio last month, and we got our pictures taken! I really hated the drive over (in The Box, of course), and the photographer freaked me out rattling around big sheets of white paper and crackly lens filters and bright flashes of light all over the place. I don't look too happy in the picture with Mom and Dad, do I? Well, believe it or not, as the evening progressed I got more and more relaxed, and by the end I was curled up on the couch and almost nodding off! The photographer said he'd never had a cat do that before, and snapped some pics which I must say are really top drawer. Man - I knew I looked good, but I didn't know I looked THAT good!
There have been some big changes around here since I last wrote. Grandma had a heart attack and then a stroke in August. Mom and Dad had to go up to Washington to be with her. Dad came home after about 5 days, then he went back for another few days. His friend came by to feed me, but I wasn't around much. I was really worried about them and hated being in the house by myself. Dad finally came home, but Mom stayed there a few days more. I really missed them!! Grandma is now down here in Portland at a "skilled nursing facility". The goal is to get her into an "assisted living adult care home" close by. I wonder if they'll let me visit...? I think she's doing a little better each day, but the whole thing has been really hard on Mom and Dad.
Something good did happen, though - Mom and Dad got married on September 30! It was raining really hard that day. I stayed home and slept on the couch. They are really happy being married! As long as they don't forget to feed me, I'm fine with it.
And now, the change I'm really not very happy about. There is a new cat hanging around. I think she's from the big gang of cats next door. She's still a little scaredy-cat and won't come in the house (I make sure of that!), so Mom put an old comforter (one that *I* used to sleep on!) out on the front porch for her, and they've been FEEDING her too. In fact, giving her MY leftovers!! How insulting is that?!?!?! The brazen hussy thinks she's sooooooo cute, all little and gray and rolling around and batting those green eyes at everyone. They're calling her Spalding (apparently there was some actor guy named Spalding Gray, and she's gray, and ha ha, isn't that cute? ::rolls eyes::) Anyway, it irks me no end to see her out there calmly eating MY food and sleeping on MY comforter. She better not try to challenge my authority around here! It's my way or the highway!!
Oh yeah - about my thyroid problem. I got my blood drawn again last week, and the doctor says my thyroid count is the highest it's ever been. I'm still on the medicine, and they have to do another blood draw in 3-4 weeks. HOLY BASTET I hate that!! I don't know why it's so high. She also said my weight is down another pound or so. I don't know about that either - I eat like a pig (when it's food that I LIKE - when will they get the message about the stuff I like and the stuff I don't??). Anyway, I feel fine. Not sure what's going on. I'm hoping that "irradiation" thing they were talking about earlier isn't in the future....
