Kittens and puppies are cute but if they are not loved and wanted they become problems. That kitten that is put outside when she comes into heat is soon a momcat, herself. That puppy who is dumped in the backyard can become protective and aggressive because it is unsocialized. How can this problem be controlled? The only way is through spay and neutering. Please spay/neuter your pets and support affordable opportunities for other members of your community. Low cost/high volume spay and neuter clinics provide a needed service. These clinics encourage routine veterinary care for the animals that are altered there.
Another way to help with the problems is to support your local open admission animal shelter. Most of these shelters are doing the best they
can with limited resources. Communities have only so much money that they can spend and often animal services is one of the first areas that is cut.
Adopt from your local shelter or rescue group. There are wonderful animals waiting for homes of their own with these groups.
