Arrival Story:
Dodger was rescued by a member of the Yolo County SPCA. She was driving and saw a group of kids throwing stones at something. She pulled over and discovered they were throwing rocks at a small black kitten. She picked him up and asked if anyone owned this kitten. The kids all ran away and Dodger came to be a foster in the Yolo County SPCA. Dodger hated going to placement. He would turn his back and never look a the people who came in to see the cats. He loved his foster home. Eventually, he persuaded me that he was mine. Dodger is a caretaker cat. He helped me take care of the foster kittens until he decided that it was another cat's job. If I don't feel well, he will try to make me feel better by grooming me and purring.

Dodger left us on December 13, 2012 but before he left he asked me --Dervish to continue to ask for purrs for rescues and forever homes and to continue his diary in his honor. Tomorrow will be my first Rescue Rant and Rave

Homes of their own for the Holidays

Our rescue group is working hard to find homes for all of our foster animals but not just for the holidays. We want them to find homes for the rest of their lives. That cute kitten or puppy will turn into a wonderful pet with the right care and socialization. Remember homes for the holidays mean homes for all of their days.

Homes of their own for the Holidays

It is Thanksgiving weekend and my person is home with us and the foster kittens. There is no placement today. This has started me thinking that the foster kittens should be in a home of their own for the holidays. It isn't that I mind them around. They are fun and warm to snuggle with. I would like more uninterrupted time with my person. There is only so much lap time available. I know the kittens are joy and giggles waiting to happen. Please if you are considering another furry family member choose to adopt from a shelter or rescue group.
